I asked him what he wanted to do after he graduated and he immediately said plumbing.

Screw that. Tell him to become a janitor at MIT. Then he can go hang at the "Hahvahd bahs" and scout the "Hahvahd hotties."

Just be sure and tell him to not chicken out when a hot British chick gives him her number. You gotta call her back after the first date.

I have a patient who is a plumber.
He had extra cash and started buying properties. Fixed them all up himself.
He is worth over $25 million now.
Not bad for a plumber

There are both electricians and plumbers in LC that made more in Q1 of this year than you made in the last 5, and they’re typically not the brightest. If this kid wants to do that as a business owner, good for him. This could be the first of many businesses.

So he found something a lot more profitable than plumbing?

Kid sounds like he's self- motivated which will take him far no matter what his career.

Dude, chill.

Electricians and plumbers who make that kind of money own companies and had the potential to create/run all sorts of companies (like this kid).

Trades are profitable but low-margin in the big picture. They're also a step above fast food in terms of managing headaches constantly.

Even within the realm of trades, there are more profitable avenues, like construction.

He’s a junior in high school who scored nationally in the top 1% on the PSAT last year, then just scored a 1380 on the PSAT this year

What percentage is 1380 as a junior?

Where were these PSAT results when I was in high school?

I thought they go to 2400.

If that’s a 1600 scale, that’s well above average but not jaw dropping at all.

In about ten years we’re going to hear a news story about the plumber who built a nuclear reactor in his garage “just for fun.”

Yeah I imagine he didn’t try hard, because he already knows his direction

Eta this is also not his senior year where he has more time to raise the score if he wanted.
