Ask about the Imahara's gardens. It's a really neat place with a cool story of an immigrant family who fled Nagasaki jut prior to WWII.

Magnolia Cafe ...... spicy shrimp po-boy are outstanding.

GOAT shrimp poboy, I couldn't tell you how many of those I ate during high school. We fixed up one of those old slave cabins one summer in high school and had keys to the reataurant. Would go in there at all hours of the night drunk or stoned and eat until we couldn't eat anymore.

I don't like to knock restaurants particularly in small towns. They do the best they can. But just to save OP some aggrevation, the Francis is worth avoiding. There are several other so good restaurants in SFville, but my one time at the Fran was a new low. Magnolia Cafe is pretty good, and there is a very good Lebanese place across the street (can't remember name) but if you're coming from Houston it won't be much different from many you might have tried in TX.

There is no restaurant that is particularly notable in St. Francisville. The Francis is like chimes without the beer selection. The magnolia is unremarkable. The Francis smokehouse had some excellent boudin during the holidays and I was told it contained deer. Their brisket and pulled pork lacks in smoke flavor and is average at best.

Go visit a plantation or two. Bunch of them right in that area.

Hot as balls.

Are the plantation homes not climate controlled? Don't think I've ever been to one in the summer.

WAT? Only reason to go over there is to party on False River. Other than that, New Roads is a complete dump.

DJohns has been closed for years.

Try "South of the Border" off of highway 61 just before you reach Mississippi

Stop off at Audubon Package Liquor, grab you some booze. Then take a short trip up 61 to Illusions. Your welcome.
