Get them a PreSonus ATOM controller if you have a computer. It comes with both Studio One Artist and Ableton Live Lite version. This thing integrates well with both and gives them really nice pads to trigger drum sounds in the software:

Sounds like a lot of compression being used from that isolated video I listened to. You could try doing some Parallel Compression on the drums, that way you can get it sounding really big and compressed.

The real question to me is; why is this radio station rotating the same 100 songs over and over when there were literally 1000s of great songs in the 80s. And it's not just the corporate radio stations doing it. The locally owned ones (the very very few of them) do the same thing.
