We have 35 in my town, they cause no problems and have been phenomenal for traffic flow.

Every once in a while you'll get behind a blue hair in one and they don't quite get it.

I drove through that circle last weekend. What a cluster.

Traffic circles are far better than four way stops, at least as long as the people using them have the common sense necessary to use them.

Roundabouts also prevent panhandlers from setting up shop because cars never stop

The ones existing I-12 in Hammond are my favorite. Right next to a large truck stop. Big time cluster fruck.

Roundabouts should be built only on 2 lane roads thereby having only one lane completely around the roundabout. Thats the only way most drivers can navigate them.

They have definitely helped on some of the more rural two lane roads around here.

That said I accidentally drove through Youngsville around 5pm one day and it was terrible. They basically become a 4 way stop.

This style seems easier to follow.

I think the main issue in Youngsville is everyone leaves the town in the morning and comes back to town at 5pm. So there's not equal traffic coming from all directions. Youngsville is pretty empty during the day.

My personal favorite is actually the right turn bypass type for four lane roads intersecting, and while the shape is a little odd because of how they had to design it, the roundabout on Lobdell in Baton Rouge is what I'm talking about: https://maps.app.goo.gl/tyGq6fz674tkug9H8

The roundabout itself has only one lane and is entered by staying in the left lane on your road. However, in approaching the roundabout, the right lane takes a protected right to avoid the roundabout entirely. Short of someone driving against the flow of traffic, which, just don't, the worst "mistake" someone can make is accidentally taking the bypass to the right when they needed to enter the roundabout, or vice versa. Both of which are super minor.

Edit: This is a picture of a similar style roundabout for people who don't want to click a link to google maps:

There's 4 more in the works for Houma. I don't understand how they think - just put these in and no worries. I told our parish prez at a town hall he needs to use the newspapers and Htv and put " how to navigate a roundabout " instructions and videos repeatedly for at least a year to show folks that don't know. Apparently there's tons of complaints about them. And collisions

This is the design of a sign I could understand. I am a man. I read a diagram not verbal directions.

None of that 4 sign DOTD family feud setup they have now. And put it near the the police station so drivers have time to see it.

Thats the stupidest place to put one of those circle jerk thingys. Way too many roads connect there especially with Jackson being a truck route. Horrible idea from dot and idiot mayor to agree with it.

Roundabouts are more efficient and easier to use than 4-way+ stops. There is just no accounting for the lowest common denominator of mouth breathers who struggle to understand a normal, four-way-stop intersection. You know......the dumbass who can't figure out when it is their turn to go, gumming up the works for everyone else. Yeah, the problem is that those people are still allowed to drive.

I drive through that circle 2-4x a day. It’s great. Many wrecks recently. Lots of Altimas and such. IYKYK

Traffic signals are not hard to understand if you have a lick of sense. Lots of folks mis understood when they called out to give out brains. They thought the said “rain” and they ran for the house.

They really are not tough to navigate.

I don’t understand why people can’t handle those things?
