Sure. 20 paces and to make it fair, I'll follow Brother Mouzzone's inspiration and use a .380

This guy could have had a revolver and still killed the same number of kids.

He could have easily done it with a Glock pistol and a handful of extra magazines

Like the guy at VT.

But don't expect progs to know. Everything is an assault rifle or ghost gun to them.

You don't own any firearms. You would cry at the sight of one, Cinderella.

Yep, immediate disqualifier.

I don't know any civilians personally who own an assault rifle.

You should be 21 to purchase a handgun or assault rifle and 18 to posses.

Then
Convention for Proposing Amendments is only true way with incorporation of Bill of Rights (or most of them) to the states. I always thought 1st amendment was too specific to Congress to be incorporated, but regardless of original intent of Bill of Rights the 2nd does include keeping and bearing arms as a right of the people. It should have been incorporated early by court not late like it was.

Plus aren’t rifles designed to assault others? What rifle would not qualify as an assault rifle?

If you want any more restrictions at all, you are going to have to give something up for me. I give you age 21 and universal background checks. What are you willing to cede to make that happen?

universal background checks.

I bought a new gun earlier in the year. When I went to pick it up from the dealer there was a delay, for some reason (I have a spotless record). He told me the govt was overwhelmed with background checks and if they hadn't approved me within a certain timeframe that he could transfer ownership. He said that was happening with some frequency now. So what good do stricter background checks do if they just require more time and manpower - that apparently isn't even there.

That doesn't mean that we can't get better mental screening and raise the gun purchase age to 21 on assaults rifles. You can't get a concealed carry until your 21

I get it - he would have just used a different gun, but there no chance He would have been nearly as effective with holding off officers with a handgun, shotgun or hunting rifle.

Trying to avoid all these threads and arguing over all of this as its truly tragic, but your post made me feel like I needed to respond to it. Idk how old you are or how in tune you are with the current climate for illegal guns on the street but YouTube any rap video and you can see kids much younger than 18 with AR's and AK's and all sorts of other weapons that weren't purchased "legally," and many are felons. From all cities and all over the U.S.

Harshening gun laws more than they already are will DO NOTHING to curb criminal activity.

A few random teachers concealed carrying would be enough of a deterrent.

Not really.

If you’re at the point where you’re ok with killing innocent children, you’re probably not all that worried about English teacher Mrs Jenkins packing heat

Not just that, we absolutely have to retain the right to stop that immediate threat instantly if posed to our family and ourselves.

We lose that, and we've lost our society.

I think the teacher who propped the door open should get 10 years in prison.
