Take the governors off and the Ford would be faster than a jetski

Carriers look super cool until you spend 10 straight months on one

Is it a super carrier. The only non American one in existence is the Charles de gualle. Of course a lot can happen in 10 years

Damn. How long have they been building that beast?

Eta: Construction began on August 11th of 2005 in Virginia at the Newport News shipbuilding grounds.

I can't imagine how hot that deck gets when they're cruising around the equator

During my first deployment on the Bush, deck temp hit 138 in the Med Gulf. That was during flight ops. It actually isn't that bad on deck when the ship is at 35 knots

So this Super carrier is going to replace which Nimitz class?

Supposedly the upcoming USS Enterprise will retire the USS Dwight D Eisenhower?

Not trolling at all, but is this because of what your job was? Like, if you were the CO or you got to fly jets off the bow, would you feel differently?

yes if you have private barracks, an enlisted person to clean your room for you and get to leave the boat in an f-18, your experience is quite different. I look back fondly on it, but working 12-18 hours a day, every single day for months on a floating prison from which you cannot escape...takes its toll on you.
