I didn't get drafted and sent to the fields of Vietnam to die at 18 years old. I consider myself pretty fortunate compared to those guys.

If the boomers would just go ahead and retire, there would be a 20% increase in job availability. Lots of boomers still going to work for fun.

Boomers have owe 100k on their house, have10k saved for retirement, and are entitled to couple hundred bucks a month in SS. They aren’t retiring anytime soon

After accounting for the present crisis, the average millennial has experienced slower economic growth since entering the workforce than any other generation in U.S. history. Millennials will bear these economic scars the rest of their lives, in the form of lower earnings, lower wealth and delayed milestones, such as homeownership.
Boo fricking hoo.

The younger half of Boomers are under 65, some as young as 55.

Hilarious ! Can you imagine if you were born in 1925 ? No A/C, want chicken ? kill it in the back yard !, the Great Depression, WWII, the assassination of a President, Vietnam, race riots, crime, AND the two recent economic 'slowdowns' and pandemic. This is my mom's life so far. Youngsters should feel very fortunate
Okay, I'll play:
Your mom was 22 in 1947. Assuming she retired at 65, her working years consisted of one recession of GDP decline greater than 3% (-3.2% from 1973-75)...leaving another 15 years of recovery.
For comparison sake, the Great Recession was -5.1%. CBO is estimating 2020 recession to be -5.6%.
That's two 5%+ GDP contractions in 12 years compared to one 3% contraction over 43.

Yep, a lot of them are just trying to add a couple of payments to their boats and lakehouses.

I don’t think the headline is that big of a deal. I think the content of the article is far more important.

As a millennial, I'm oppressed and I demand compensation!
Posted on 5/27/20 at 1:36 pm to Bench McElroy
Is this another thread where everyone thinks millennials are teenagers, and college kids?

If you made it through though, you were able to experience what will probably be the most prosperous time in the US.
That would be great considering the twenty years of their lives before going to War were in the Great Depression.

I wish I could read it, but alas, its behind the dumb paywall
but unless the author addresses that this is only about living generations and economics, then the content isn't even that great
Posted on 5/27/20 at 1:38 pm to PhilipMarlowe
No. This one is about older generations complaining about someone else complaining.

Get back to me when they spend their adolescent and teen years wondering where their next meal is coming from then get thrown headlong into a world war.
That is the story of my parents. Father born in 1907, mother born in 1910. Both grandfathers were farmers in rural Alabama until their deaths in the flu epidemic.

feel like the generations that died in the Civil War, WWI, and WWII kinda had it worse
I agree. The hardship and sacrifices endured during WWII were far greater than anything these pussy generations have faced. I consider the generation of WWII to be the best. The older folk of that generation I have known, have been great people. Very generous, kind, and simple. They pulled together as a country and kept the country rolling, replacing the soldiers sent to war. They rationed food, sugar, electricity, etc. Could you imagine these liberal pussies being asked to do that today?? You could hear the bitch moans on other side of world!
