2 mins 47 sec is shorter than “multiple minutes”

A trained soldier or marine would aim center mass since this greatly increases the hit probability. This goes for rifle or pistol. It was how I was trained by the Army in the late 80's and is still how soldiers are trained. This is especially important shooting iron sights when there is more uncertainty in the exact point of aim.
A bright red Maga hat though does offer an excellent contrast with the iron sights. I may go to the range later to test this theory. Won't be using a Maga hat though. I'm not that obtuse but I am curious as to the validity of this theory. I highly recommend that no one else would try this experiment on a public range unless they want to be interviewed by the SS.
Any long time shooter will tell you that getting a rock solid position and excellent sight picture is vital to precisely placing your shot. Breath control and trigger squeeze is assumed to be good. It is also assumed that the rifle is 2 moa or better. In my experience this is a pretty good assumption with ball ammo. The moa assumption would mean at the estimated range the shots would be dispersed over a 3 inch circle. A not so good assumption would be the shooters breath control and trigger squeeze since breath control in this situation would be difficult at best unless this dude had ice water in his veins.
I thank God that this chump missed Trump. It is terrible though that a man was killed by this lunatic.

Tell that to the deceased guys family jackass. 2 minutes and 47 seconds secret service could have have Trump in the car headed to a secured location before shots fired.

I’m really, really, really trying to remain level headed about all of this. It’s becoming more difficult by the hour.

Longer actually - there were witnesses who saw him BEFORE he was even on the building

why?

the plausibility of local LEO:

- missing someone climbing on the roof
- being slow to react
- not wanting to immediately shut down the speech before investigating
- panicking once a gun is pointed at them

all seems pretty on par for local LEO

Right. Which is why I said multiple minutes because it depends when you start the clock actually

EVERY person I’ve heard talk about it has said that the SS responsible perimeter should have been, and always is, much wider. It should have never been an issue for local LEO to deal with.

I don’t need to get involved in this discussion. I’m going to mow my yard.

100% fact. I've had a sitting VP speak at my office in the past and can guarantee what happened Saturday would not have been possible with the amount of effort put into securing the site (efforts that started days in advance btw).

SS is always responsible for the immediate vicinity of the VIP, and then long range perimeter with snipers.

Crowd control, meaning beyond immediate vicinity to the extent of the crowd, is always local LEO.

Not sure what you have heard, but that is par the course for these types of events.

Ultimately, this still lies on SS, but I'm willing to bet that local LEO was responsible for that building/area.

This story gets worse by the hour. It's sickening.

It's baffling that the shooter could be seen with a rifle climbing up onto the roof and then on the roof for that period of time and nothing was done until he got off shots.

How does not one LEO get a radio to get Trump down and off the stage in all of that time?
they do this and nobody would have gotten shot. doubt the shooter would have randomly shot at the crowd if trump was gone but who knows

I don't wear tin foil hats but there's no way you can observe all of the available information and come to any other conclusion than it was allowed to happen. The level of incompetence it would take for it to be an accident or the result of a miscommunication is not plausible.

It almost seems like they intentionally wanted to let him get some shots off before taking him out. I'm not usually a conspiracy theory guy, but it would not surprise me if that was the plan coming down from the top. Biden has weaponized just about every federal agency, why not also the SS to remove the threat that is Trump?

If CIA or SS wanted Trump dead they would have him killed while playing golf of something else far less in the public eye where he could become a martyr, and they wouldn’t miss….

If this was an inside job it was extremely unprofessional and would lean to local Barney fife cops being in on it
