It’s even hotter than Portland out in the gorge. An absolute roaster.

Flew up here Friday to visit the in laws. We come 2-3 times in the summer to beat the heat in Houston. Came for 3 weeks this time since we are still working remote. Hot as frick yesterday and going to be worse today.
Luckily the in laws just moved from Portland across the river to Vancouver, WA. New house has AC. Their old one did not. I would not have come with no AC.

bullshite. Being from louisiana i made sure to have mine upon arrival. Its currently 71 in my house built in 1925 in the mt tabor neighborhood of Portland.

Its almost 10pm and still in the 90s outside.

Okay. What does you making sure you had yours upon arrival have to do with the fact the people I was referring to had trouble finding an AC in a store in the middle of a heat wave?

You are basic.

Will this heat do serious Dane to the snow fields/glaciers on Rainier and other high mountains?

I’d imagine the Northern Cascades and Olympic Range will lose all their snow early this year.

Been up off 2 near skykomish and the river has helped keep things cooler than down in the valley. Still showed 98 up here yesterday, but the worst part is the lakes and rivers are still cold from the snow melt. Lake Elizabeth was the warmest one we could find yesterday

wouldn’t be so bad if houses were equipped with AC.

I just moved into a house with A/C out here in April. Feel so lucky to have it. Even during regular Summers, there's at least a couple of weeks a year where the temps or too high at night to get decent sleep.

Fans and swamp coolers don't cut it.

A lot of it has already melted. The Cascades look about 50% covered here. But that's still a lot of snow.

ETA: (weather nerd thing) probably have a 600 dm ridge centered over BC. Ridiculous.

That's a death ridge for a different reason.

They planned on camping. No way in that heat.

Any of our NW posters ready for Arizona summer to invade for a few days?

No worries, took the truck camper and boat to Hoodsport.

Spent yesterday on Lake Cushman relaxing.

I've got the portable AC whirring away at home.

You haven't acclimated yet then.

I jumped in once I got my boat anchored up.

You would be correct . Trout lake was chilly yesterday, swam in after a hike up then couldn't feel my feet and got out. Just got home and my house is a cool 89

I've never seen so much visible rock on Rainier and you can see the east side of Hurricane Ridge from here and it's mostly melted as well. And that was before yesterday.

Salmon/steelhead will suffer with this early heat killing the snowpack.
