You have to choose wisely, though. Hotels in more rural areas don't have a lot of foot traffic in the lobby and twice now I've had a front desk person get angry when they realized why I was there.

Completely agree. Whenever I go to work, I feel like I have to stop there every time to get something. I actually like that place.

I've never been to Buc-ees, but I've heard people will leave their house just to go take a dump at Buc-ees because they're so nice. Are the new Racetracs on that level?

I stay at the Hampton Inn in West Monroe quite frequently for work so they know me by name when I walk in. I was heading back from Texarkana on Tuesday and had the shite pains start hitting around Ruston. Pulled into the Hampton Inn waved to the lady behind the front desk and proceeded to destroy the bathroom. Walked out and lady asked if I was heading back to the paper mill none that wiser that I haven't stayed there in about a month.

A little known secret at these Racetracs is if you refill a coffee in your own mug and that's ALL you're getting, they rarely charge you and just say "You're good" when you walk up to pay.

On that note. Valero Corner Stores at I-10@73 and Bluebonnet@Burbank and 3188 in Laplace are my almost as good as the new Racetracs.
I got Valero Gas card too that gets me $.08/gal rebate.

Racetracs have improved greatly but they also contract out to independent operators known as Raceway which are rebranding and have even higher standards.
