Even though an overwhelming majority voted for prop B to make it illegal for homeless to camp in Austin...the city council says hold my beer. Designating areas where homeless people can camp....
Why even vote in this country anymore??????

How is this different from any other day?
at anyone who thinks elected officials care about what you want. They know what’s best for you. You sit there and do as they say.

This is what most large cities are doing. Instead of Austin's retarded "You can camp anywhere in the city".
You might not like this "solution" but it's a frickload better than the situation they've been dealing with in Austin.

Yeah, I’d say it looks like it’s been dead for years.

I can post pictures of the Bay Area that avoids the poop on the sidewalk and homeless encampment but I know that not an accurate picture as well.

Austin, Denver, San Francisco, others that tolerate them are fricking dumb.
Homeless are like rats. If you give them a single crumb, every rat that side of the Mississippi will flock to your city to take advantage of your stupidity.
Give them city sponsored resources to keep them off the street and make life miserable for those that don't take the offer.

Those aren’t even real pictures but artists depictions. Some of the buildings in those pics haven’t even been built yet or far from completed. It also doesn’t show the record crime growth and filth that’s all happened in a 3 year period.

and identify publicly-owned land or land within the city limits owned by willing community partners that could accommodate temporary housing
Would certainly be fricking over any homeowners who have places proximate to whichever spaces they pick.
I think I mentioned it on here before, but my boss (who doesn't know dick about anything related to what I do every day) lived in Venice, California. Big east coast hippy/journalist type. Just moved from Venice to Santa Barbara because the homeless problem in Venice had gotten so bad. He told me once, it's so bad and he doesn't even know what you can do about it...without an ounce of irony or awareness that his voting habits have encouraged the creation of the problem. I'm sure he would have been one of those west coast liberals that supported homeless living wherever they want, until it ended up in his backyard. Then it was time to bail.

they need to come up with a plan of wtf they are supposed to do with all these people. and i am not sure they have the police budget anymore to properly enforce the ordinance.
cap metro doesnt run very far and real estate is expensive. im afraid the bums arent going away just because of a bunch of pissed off transients have them in front of their condo.

They've done the same thing in California multiple times. People vote for something and some bureaucrats get together and overrule it.

they should bulldoze hancock golf course and riverside/roy g and make that the bum camps.
the problem is a bum camp wont work out in manor or 130 or somewhere where cap metro doesnt run. remember austinites voted down the rail line and expanding cap metro? so you have to keep them somewhere in the vicinity of downtown. the last big green spaces remotely close would be hancock or roy g/riverside.
