Only one that has lasted since antiquity.

Good thing the woke idiots have let in millions of migrants that will end up destroying this and many others like it.

The Catholic Church sure is an amazing organization. Only one that has lasted since antiquity.
Ever heard of this religion called Judaism?

Nope
The Basilica of Santa Pudenziana begs to differ
as does The Church of Saint Susanna.
And all three less aged than the The Ostia Synagogue

I Googled and looked at images of the inside the Church. It's a magnificent work of art. Not sure you'd ever see anything built to that magnitude ever again.
about twenty minutes away isn't too shabby.

Needs some crown molding.

I just spent a week in Rome... didn't make this one but hit several others & the basilica and saw some amazing things
Rome is hands down the most fascinating city in the world. If you haven't been, it's just mindboggling how many places there are to take in and how much artwork to see, not to mention the Roman Forum and historical sites.

It’s a building
The church is the people

There is a grating in there with a pelican feeding her young. I think most Louisianians would find it interesting that our State flag is an 1800 year old Catholic symbol.

Right across the street is the staircase that Jesus is said to have climbed to face his trial before Pontious Pilate
Jesus was tried in Jerusalem
It was moved to its present location in the year 326.
It is called the Sancta Santorum. We went to Rome for our honeymoon and just happened to stumble on this place while out exploring one day. Incredible.

The staircase was moved from Jerusalem to Rome. The Romans didn’t have to steal it because they owned it. Jerusalem was part of the Roman Empire. Google Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs).
Ok, now I’m even more confused because on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem they claim the stairs are THE stairs. I’m not doubting you as much as the history. There are a lot of things claimed to be from Christ’s journey that aren’t. I had a priest say one time if you took all the relics of the cross (claimed) and put them together you could make a giant redwood tree.

I absolutely love their architecture. It honestly makes me sad to sit in a windowless protestant church on Sundays.

The Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran, built by Emperor Constantine, was dedicated on this day 1,700 years ago by Pope St. Sylvester I (r. 314-335).
Awesome.
No matter how often I see this stunning architecture with its incredible attention to detail, and gargantuan proportions and measurements, I can't help but believe that this structure (as well as many other similar massive cathedrals worldwide) were not designed and built by purely "human" hands. The doors and window seem to be accommodating larger beings.
The Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran is said (above) to have been "dedicated" 1700 years ago or "consecrated" according to some other sources. But not "designed and built."
Does anyone else also believe The Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran and other similarly awe-inspiring sacred churches and cathedrals are much older than historians claim? (and also perhaps an unacknowledged stretch of time is missing from 'history books?)
Here is St. Petersburg, Russa.
Check out that church. God only knows how old it really is.

Went there in October 2023. My favorite of the several dozen churches I visited. The pope’s chair is cool.

The exterior was built in the 1700s.

Is it cool if I wear my PFG shirt to 4 o'clock mass in there?
