I bet this typhoon will unearth some fascinating relics from WWII. Sucks for the native populations, their infrastructure, and their dwellings though.

I've been to Guam saipan and tinian multiple times. Hate this for those folks. Many of them just finished rebuilding from the last one in 2018.

How does the Philippines, which is rocked by 8-9 typhoon landings per year and is very poor, constantly deal with it?
quote:
Typhoon Haiyan, known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Yolanda,[1] was an extremely powerful and catastrophic tropical cyclone that is among the most intense tropical cyclones ever recorded. Upon making landfall, Haiyan devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines during early November 2013.[2] It is one of the deadliest typhoons on record in the Philippines,[3] killing at least 6,300 people in the region of Visayas alone.[4] In terms of JTWC-estimated 1-minute sustained winds, Haiyan is tied with Meranti in 2016 for being the second strongest landfalling tropical cyclone on record, only behind Goni in 2020. It was also the most intense and deadliest tropical cyclone worldwide in 2013.
