It’s more contagious than any previous variant or subvariant. It also evades the antibodies from monoclonal therapies, potentially rendering a whole category of drugs ineffective as COVID treatments.
Ok but how severe are the symptoms? If it’s a mild cold I don’t give a shite

Since they're not referencing hospitalization or mortality rates, I'd assume it's basically the common cold.

Keep triple masking. You’ll be safe.

ohh, so we're going to play the disingenuous game of pretending like politicians and the media haven't drastically overblown the threat of every new variant since 2020.
i believe it. Dr Faucci totally won't be doing 10 interviews a day for the next 2 weeks hyping this variant up. Nope, no chance.
and for the record we also had posters on the opposite end of the spectrum here celebrating when those opposed to the vaccine died of COVID and quite a few posters making the case that the unvaxxed should rightfully lose their jobs if their employer had vax mandates and not be able to get treatment at emergency rooms or hospitals for not getting vaxxed. Not to mention all the fricking sheep who ran out and got their healthy young children vaccinated despite overwhelming evidence it was almost 0 threat to healthy children.

It’s possible to mitigate the worst outcomes. Natural antibodies from past infection are still the best and most durable antibodies. They don’t last forever. But while they do last—a few months or potentially a whole year—the chance of catching a bad case of COVID is pretty low.

Is it really still "novel" nearly three years and 72 variants later?

Singapore is one of the most heavily vaccinated countries in the world
And not surprising they have basically the lowest death rates in the world. Combination of low rates of obesity, high education, and the vaccine's protection against severe outcomes.

Seeing some of the downvotes when people state facts, kind of proves that a large portion of the O-T type with masks on.

Dirty little secret: The new bivalent booster can knock you on your arse for a day and a half. Then it might take you another full day to fully recover back to feeling 100%
I’ve heard this also. I have a friend that took the booster a few weeks ago and he said it knocked both he and his mother on their arse for 1-2 days.

Oh, you mean how it happens to coincide with the yearly rise of other respiratory illnesses; i.e cold and flu season? Weird.
When I hear hoofbeats, I think horses- not democratic disease spreading zebras.
Conspiracy theorists are just stupid people that want to feel like they know better than smarter people.

interesting that it's now acceptable to assume the yearly rise of other respiratory illnesses in the fall and winter are the cause of the increase of sick days being taken and hospital/emergency room admissions. Where as in the past 3 years it was because we were in store for a "long dark winter" or however it was spun by the COVID fear mongers.
