Isn't leather bio-based?

My wife's old Volkswagen Passat had leatherette (vinyl) seats.
And to be honest, I loved them and prefer them to leather. Especially with kids. They held up way better than her current leather seats with no maintenance

They’re going to have us driving Ladas in twenty years, and living in concrete apartment blocks. Where people get stabbed in the stairwells.

The only leather in most cars with leather is just the actual spot your arse hits, the rest is all synthetic and 99% of the people don't know the difference.

Most new vehicle seats are "leather" in name only. Even mercedes uses MB-Tex in most cars and nobody knows the difference

That’s probably why most Volvo dealerships still have a selection of new inventory. Volvo hasn’t been as impacted by the chip shortage as most other manufacturers.

So, are they recalling cars already sold between 2020-2021 and replace the leather with vinyl?

And, wouldn't more dead cows mean less methane in the atmosphere?
And, wouldn't less methane in the atmosphere please the enviromental whackjob Nazis as they claim it would help with the Climate Change hoax?
So, looks like Volvo has a conundrum.
You can take you and your making sense off of this planet. The humans do not like that anymore.

I got news for you Chief. They’re lower end models have had pleather in them for years. They use creatively deceptive words like leatherette or leather like, or some other deceptive word. BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Buick, the list goes on.

Volvo Cars wants all the models it sells to be leather-free by 2030, a move which represents the latest example of how automakers are looking to make their vehicles more sustainable.
So rather than use animal hide, to be more green they are going to transition to chemical plant manufactured products?

Is the vinyl made out of algae?

Sounds like a good time to start up an old-fashioned coach maker business. Do what the early auto industry did: buy cars from the big manufacturers, rebuild them to suit what the customer wants.

Yeah no thanks.
The vinyl in my last few cars looked nice until it reached a certain age, at which point heat and sunlight make it look like an octogenarian sun worshipper in South Florida. And that was just the dash.
Don’t want that shite on my seats.
