If I might hijack this advertising thread, what would be the OT's recommendation for replacing my Toyota Land Cruiser? I've got a 2016 (my second one) that I can squeeze another couple years out of, but since Toyota dropped the LC I don't know what's the most comparable SUV out there. I do occasionally need for off road and towing, legit 4 wheel drive is a must. I just don't like the Lexus version, and would seem out of place on the farm.

The new Sequoia would be an option for you. I believe you can get different trim levels with the upgraded TRD package or just get the TRD trim. It can tow 10k lbs. I’m just not a fan of the cargo configuration.

On my second one. Kept my first one for 9-1/2 years. Only thing I ever did was change the oil and the tires. Great car!

Toyota is out to rule every niche segment of the CUV/SUV market starting with the Corolla Cross….all the way to new Landcruiser. They doing a great job so far. Just wait till new LC (prado) reenters the US market & new 4Runner shortly after.
No one comes close.

Yeah, the new Sequoia seems a likely candidate. It's a foot longer than my Land Cruiser which I don't love, and I'd have to get one of the upgraded packages to approach the same off road ability. The cargo configuration of the LC is not that good either with third row seats that fold up rather than hiding away, so probably a net gain there. The length is probably my biggest issue, one of the reasons I haven't gotten a pickup. Most of my driving is still in the city, don't need a huge vehicle most of the time. Trying to find a compromise.

It looks a lot like the Lexus GX. I’m guessing that’s why Toyota got rid of the LC in the US. Those buyers can migrate to the Lexus GX.

Toyota hasn’t revealed the new (US bound) LC yet. Rumored unveil probably later this year & will based on LC Prado this time. Currently, rest of the world gets Prado, while we get Lexus GX. GX is awesome m, but it would be nice to have a Toyota version too. I’m assuming the new 4Runner will slot slightly below the new LC? We’ll see…

Classic Toyota, lacking a lot on the interior compared to the Telluride/Palisade and will probably be $10k+ more

I'm not sure I would call it a midsize SUV since they extended it and gave it a third row. It's basically the size of Durango which I would call a full size. Also, Toyota and Jeep are already in a dead heat for the top selling midsize suv w/the regular Highlander and Grand Cherokee so them bumping up to #1 wouldn't be some big achievement for them.

Speaking of Jeep, this seems like Toyota's version of the Grand Cherokee L.

I agree that it's possible the GH could eat into Sequoia sales but then again Stellantis doesn't seem to think it's a problem that the Grand Cherokee L could eat into Wagoneer or Durango sales either so it's possible they believe this vehicle will be more likely eat into competitor sales like Ford, GM, and Honda.

Toyota brand alone will always make it better than a Kia or a Hyundai

We were down between a highlander and a palisade a few years ago for virtually the same price. Took the highlander due to reliability. Don’t really care about bells and whistles we’re likely to turn off anyway

That is correct. Best value on the market.

Having recently bought a new tahoe. I’d gladly have paid 75k+ for the Tahoe.

Best driving, has features Chevrolet, ford don’t even offer, 10 year 100k power train warranty. Neve would’ve thought of buying a Kia four years ago but they’ve completely rebranded. Telluride has also been the top rated car four years in a row.

I got a guy I work with just bought one of those Tellurides for his wife to drive. He talks it up like crazy talking about “yeah I think it looks like a range rover” I’m like dude no. Pump the brakes. Lol It’s a poor man’s Highlander, without Toyota proven reliability.
