I wish I had done one at 50. Might have saved me all this I am going through now...... the prep isn’t bad if you do it right.

drinking the prep was the worst part.
The procedure was not bad at all

BCBS will not cover it until 50 unless you can prove a family history of colon cancer.

Turned 50 this past year and did it and the worst part was drinking that disgusting crap that flushes you out.
Best part...Propofol. It was glorious...for those 6 or 7 seconds I was still awake to be embraced by the warm hug which overtook me thank to it running into my veins. Literally looked at the Anesthesiologist and said, "Wow...this is awesome." He smiled and said, "Yeah, it is."
I'm definitely not still thinking about it...at all.

Doc also told me insurance doesn't want to pay for it again for 10 years after.
His quote, "A report of blood in your stool would make another screening necessary at 55."
So keep that in mind.

How would you like to know that every morning you get up, get dressed , drive to the office only to open boxes of shite and analyze them all day .
My Dr said we would rotate colonoscopy / Cologuard
I shat in the box last time and got all clear

I'm 38 and they just told me they want me to get it done now because of family history. Not looking forward to it.

Had my first last year at 45. Had a scare from a CT scan. Diverticulitis...... no the C word

The prep is the only bad part of the entire thing. The taste of that stuff is ungodly.

You don’t perforate your colon crapping into a box and chasing “pre-cancerous” polyps only makes the doctor richer so I’ll take my chances with Cologuard. Until you see blood in your stool (unless you are an Aggie) no reason to worry about it.

Can’t you just crap on a stick and mail it in now?
If positive then your insurance will require a regular colorectal exam. Guess what? You've blown your yearly butthole insurance with the shite on a stick exam, so you'll have to wait a year for confirmation exam.
FWIW, this what a friend of my wife's who works for gastroenterologist said...

Turn 45 this year. Great timing, U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Doc already told me that this year's physical will be the first with a prostate check, and now I potentially get a colonoscopy, too? Outstanding.

I'm still hoping that at some point in the next 9 years the technology will be reliable enough that they can just quickly CT scan my arse to see if there's anything to worry about or not.
Well considering about 20 years ago a colonoscopy was performed while you were awake with minimal numbing you just might get lucky. First one I had I heard and felt most of it. At least I couldn’t see it.

I’ll wait for OT poster Ferguson to approve or invalidate this recommendation before proceeding.

Either way we take it in the arse

I've had it. There's nothing to it. It's actually kind of relaxing if you like propofol.
I'm 41 and have had two colonoscopies and two endoscopies. Think I had my first one at 31 or 32 because of some GI issues. It's not a big deal at all. The prep is the worst.

During routine yearly physicals doctors put "used car" pressure on men to get these, they must make a ton of money off these procedures.
