re: Why the panic, the baseball team is right where they've been in years past

the baseball team is right where they've been in years past
Bad defense paired with only 3 consistent arms and a lineup that goes into deep freeze against any above average pitcher?
Which year was that?

Deserves to be reposted:
The previous administration made no changes with NIL funding toward baseball allowing other schools to catch up or in some cases (Miss St), to spend more putting together their rosters.
Supposedly, that's getting corrected before next year.

"Moving forward, we’re going to make sure that baseball, their rev share is going up,” Ausberry said. “We’re also going to have more money for them for NIL. I’ve been meeting with Jay about that. He had some concerns about where we were and some things we had to do, and we met this week on that.”
Johnson confirmed the meeting to LouisianaSports.net and expressed his confidence in LSU’s AD moving forward.
“I am very fortunate to be working with Verge,” Johnson said. “He was instrumental in hiring me at LSU, and he played a large part in our two national championships. He knows the importance of baseball at LSU. We had a great meeting this week, and I have full confidence in his leadership and commitment to help me make LSU baseball the best it can be."

LSU baseball is always analyzed through a championship lens.
Most fans aren’t upset because we lost 1 game, they’re upset because the same issues that have plagued this team all year (subpar defense, can’t throw it over the plate, can’t hit good pitching) are still present.
After this weekend, we’ll be half way through conference play.
Time is running out, and these areas have to improve or else we’ll be on the road for the postseason again like we were in 24.

No, he isn’t
Last night was a microcosm of the entire season. Can’t throw it over the plate, can’t hit good pitching, and subpar defense.
Hunt providing color last night was one of the few bright spots.

It’s worth noting Mulkey has tirelessly worked to get her own donors, something the school is actively looking to alleviate
Why?

it’s also expected that additional resources won’t be sent to Johnson from LSU’s athletics budget for 2026 and the near future, meaning the near $11 million spent on the baseball team (Johnson’s salary + NIL + team expenses) in 2025, likely won’t increase in 2026 or beyond
:dontlikethatgif:
I mean, I get it, money drives everything, but the fact we’re not rewarding baseball with a bigger slice of the pie after a freaking national title is still disappointing.
2/10 on a good weekend
Was it "being a douche" when Sheerin motioned to their dugout after the last out yesterday, or was that ok?
The first 2 games pretty similar to last year.
Tenn in control for 95% of game 1, a bunch of free passes and a HR later and we escape with the win
Game 2, offense goes into complete deep freeze

He's on track to being one of the least popular LSU baseball players in some time.

But I’m pretty sure the Rehab from those injuries has gotten much more advanced in the past 20+ years
In terms of return to play, it really hasn’t.
I’ll be very surprised if Reliford is back and playing before January.
