Understand that the flag represents many many things. Its not just a symbol of our country. It represents everything that was gone through to get us here, our beginnings, sacrifices, people giving their lives, people putting their necks on the line, freedom, sons and daughters, families of all kinds, rich and poor, black and white, young and old, you and I, our cushy lifestyles, protection from enemies afar, current military men and women, our churches, our neighborhoods, our future.
Have the people disgracing the flag ever stopped to think about why it may upset people? Do they not know that mothers have lost sons in war, families destroyed while others die for our freedoms, people coming back with no legs and arms, the ones who laid it all on the line for us? Why attack the one thing that is affording you the ability to protest. Can they not do it in some other way? We understand why they're protesting but we dont like the delivery method. All that has been done is more divide, no solutions, and more frustration.

To all who support standing for the Anthem, When you are watching a game in your lazy boy chair at home and the Anthem is played, Do you stand or stay seated? Just curious...

What's hilarious (or maddening?) to me is all these people coming into their pressers after the game and trying to say they didn't mean any disrespect to military or service people. You can say that all you want, it doesn't mean it's not disrespectful.
It's like 'ol Ricky Bobby syndrome. If I walk into my boss' office and say "With all due respect, and I mean with all due respect; you aren't worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin getting it on." That's still disrespectful, and he's probably going to react to it as such. They can say all they want that they're not trying to be disrespectful; fact of the matter is, they are.

Because it bought a patriotic spirit to the 1917 euros series and was adopted after that. It's pooularity at sports events led to the anthem becoming official in the 30's.

I personally have a rule-of-thumb that applies to all sporting events from LSU Football/baseball to my kids' little league games.
If I'm walking up to the venue and can SEE the Flag, I stop and show respect(This happens often from HR Village at Alex Box).
If i'm in the venue, seeing the Flag is irrelevant(this has happened many times walking to seats in the SEZ in TS).
If i'm at home/bar/watching on TV at a wedding reception, I don't honor the flag as I would in person.

Admittedly, I don't attend many NFL football games. I believe the last time I went to an NFL game was over 8 or 9 years ago, when the Saints hosted Tampa Bay for a night game inside the Dome.
What time does the National Anthem play (approximately) before the start of an NFL football game? Based upon what I saw yesterday on TV, is it fair to say it is roughly 5 to 7 minutes before kickoff?

I'm pretty sure that in most offices, it's not ok to make political statements in the workplace. You're free to do so, but you may find yourself out of a job. That's not against freedom of speech because no one is throwing you in jail. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.
In their private life, they are entitled to their beliefs but anything these NFL players do in public is a reflection on the NFL, especially the things they do while on the field.
All this is doing is pissing off middle America which is literally the target audience for the NFL. We watch sports for fun and to escape from all the bad stuff in the world. Watching football players (white and black) refuse to stand for the national anthem of a country that has allowed them to make millions of dollars makes them look like entitled assholes, does literally nothing for the cause, and leads to home fans booing their teams, and fewer eyes on the television product. It's asinine that with the NFL under as much scrutiny as it has been in recent years that this kind of behavior wasn't stopped with quickness.
