Arounf 2015 my cuz bought a 4 bedroom 3 1.2 bath on 10 acreas for $50 K... Couln'dt touch that now.

I had 20K saved up for a house downpayment. That was about 1/3 of the total cost of 3 bedroom in my area at the time. Covid and Biden came and prices of homes shot up... Those 60K went to $160.. OVer doubleing their values.. and along with inflation that hit...\\

my ppoor little 20K I hade saved for years became nothing. Worthless.. Others old Boomer money becaome less values too.

Dems knew what they were doing to ruin this country.

What? A 4/3 on 10 acres just 11 years ago for $50k? That had to be a serious pile of shite or in the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

What?. homes are flying off the shelves.

I sold my home of 25 years due to the neighborhood deteriorating.

Everything I am looking at now lasts about 1 month and then sold.

in some markets, things worth having are still selling, but it's not like it had been back in 21-23ish

We just sold our home and moved to an area that doesn’t require private school. Took my equity and we’re just going to site tight for a little while.

Possible, however, every time the government creates another regulation, manufacturing takes a major hit. Those costs go to the consumer.

You're not wrong. I'd wager a real study would say those costs are also greater than the costs from illegals.

I would like to add that you can't work on anything anymore.

I am remodeling a rental property, and I know how to wire a house, so I told the city I would be doing the wiring myself. They told me that if I flip or rent, I cannot do that. My choices are to either live in the property or have an electrician’s license.

Keep in mind, the city has to inspect the work before allowing the power to be turned back on, regardless of who wires it. So I asked them what the point of the inspection is if a licensed electrician is required anyway, since a licensed electrician knows the code.

They seemed confused, so I told them that if their job is to inspect the work and ensure it is up to code, then I should be allowed to wire it myself. Otherwise, the inspection seems pointless if I am forced to use a licensed electrician and their job is a waste of taxpayer money. I got the permit after many phone calls and pressing the issue.

BTW, the cheapest licensed electrician quote I got was $11K out of 4 quotes. The materials cost me $2800. How can anyone do anything when these trades want to mark up work like they are brain surgeons? I understand expenses but no way should an $8200 mark up be needed to cover payroll, comp, liability, and profit for a two-day job.

Many plumbers are currently mad at Jeff Landry because he made it possible to obtain a plumbing license faster, meaning more competition is coming, and they are pissed that pricing will come down and they won't be able to charge insane money to come do your plumbing job.

If you want evidence of this, the easiest comparison is mobile homes. A basic singlewide used to cost around $24K brand new about 15 years ago. Now you can't touch one for under $50K. I am talking about the basic models. When you get to the "luxury" models, those are $90K now

They got regulated to death, much like all of the housing industry

Back when Biden was giving out free money and super low interest?

That was when housing shot way up in price and my savings depreciated overnight.

Yeah, I remember.. Still bitterly.
