The Battle of Midway.
The Japanese attempt to wipe out the remainder of the U.S. Pacific Fleet ended in absolute disaster for them thanks to the efforts of American cryptologists. Nimitz had his ships ready and waiting for the Japanese off Midway Atoll. Under the able command of Fletcher and Spruance, the U.S. Navy successfully sank four Japanese aircraft carriers and destroyed 250 aircraft at the cost of one carrier and 150 aircraft.
In just seven minutes, the tide of war shifted irreversibly against the Japanese.

“Seven minutes that changed the world”
pretty crazy. U.S.S Yorktown shouldn’t have even been there. It was supposed to be being repaired for 3 months after getting lit up in the Coral Sea Battle. They repaired it in 3 days to have it ready for Midway just in time.

This is the best book on Midway if anyone is interested. It really gets into the weeds on Japanese naval and air doctrine, carrier fire fighting defense, common myths surrounding the battle, and more.

I'd argue
Should be up there. One of the most lopsided and with far-reaching consequences

My sister used to work for a newspaper in the hometown of Midway pilot Harry Ferrier in Washington State and interviewed him when he was alive. Unfortunately the interview doesn't seem to be online.

While not as important as Midway, the battle of Manila Bay was more decisive. The Spainish lost 9 ships, the US had only one person died, it was from heat exhustion.
The Battle of Hiroshima was massively one sided, Japan lost over 150,000 the United State only lost a dozen soliders.

Only the atomic bombs were more decisive.

Midway by Sabaton is a great song. That's all I have to add to this topic.
