Not in US, but there is something equally ominous and fascinating about the Cologne Cathedral.
The cathedral is sublime, but the fact that the bahnhoff is basically on top of it takes something away when you see it in person.
I feel the same way about the Pantheon in Rome. It's so close to the McDonalds that while you're trying to imagine what Ancient Rome was like all you can smell is French Fries.

Sacred Heart in Galveston was pleasantly surprising

My favorite in my State.
On an island, connected by a walkway in the middle of North Americas longest and deepest fjord. . Sea lions and whales all around.

I always liked my hometown Catholic Church in Brusly. More of like a mix between a country Baptist church and big Catholic gaudy cathedral
And right on the banks of the Mississippi

Cathedral of the Assumption here in Louisville. While on the outside it's not really anything that really stands out, the inside is gorgeous. And the acoustics are insane, we usually see the Louisville Orchestra's performance of Handel's Messiah during the holidays there.

Our Lady of the Woods at Bellarmine University is also a nice one. It sits up on the hill over Bellarmine.

Seeing it in person is next level. Its kinda awe inspiring
That's not even a good pic of it
The Sagrada Familia is even crazier to see in person

Have attended weddings there and Symmes up in SC. Two of the most beautiful chapels I've ever seen with 'minimal' designs.

Holy Trinity in Shreveport is up there in Louisiana.
The second picture is the interior of St. John Berchman's, not Holy Trinity.

Can you imagine how many poor people the church could help if they didn’t feel the need for such oppulence?
That’s our federal government’s solution - ladle cash on them. Do you think that works?
Successful churches overawe the gullible into adopting a lifestyle that is healthy and productive. This is the “teaching them to fish” to your “giving them fish”.

I was just about to post that one. Here's another pic of it for fun.

St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica located in Beaumont, TX, is a hidden gem right off I-10.
