Can you imagine how many poor people the church could help if they didn’t feel the need for such oppulence?

I would argue the Catholic church does more to help the poor than all other organizations on the planet.

Your local Catholic social services probably does more to help the poor in your local community than do many other charities

Can you imaging how many poor people could help themselves if they didn't feel the need to rely on others for their well-being?

Can you imagine how to correctly spell opulence?

Bayou Rouge Baptist Church Evergreen, La

My sister got married there. My grandparents were from Evergreen.

It is the most quintessential small town church I’ve ever been in.

Two of my favorites are both in North Carolina:

Small church - Holy Trinity Episcopal in Glendale Springs - hand painted life-size frescoes behind the alter

Large Church - Duke Chapel on the campus in Durham - just because it’s beautiful

What a Christian mentality. You must be the pride of your breathtaking church!

I love those random black churches in middle of nowhere in the delta that you think are abandoned but will be packed out every Sunday

It’s a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

What I said was common sense. Teach a man to fish, etc. Charity is fine here and there, but there arrives a point when one is simply enabling the dysfunction.

My brother was married in this church in small town alabama:

Built in 1856 with 11 original members. Remodeled in 1891 after lightning struck the bell tower and started a fire.

Neither of these

One of the best churches in NC is God and Nature all in one.

If you stumbled upon it in your travels in the state you know what I am talking about. If not, maybe someday you will.

There was one near my place down in La, they used to use our pond for baptisms. Looked like an abandoned building most of the time.
