Kazakhstan and Mongolia don't share a border, but they're about 23 miles apart.

OP, out of curiosity, what were you using to mark the distances
Google Maps. Damn I despise Google, and they are going to ban me when they run the world, because I don't think correctly. I even have a friend that works there too (Silicon Valley). But their maps are the best thing going, except for National Geographic!

In 20 years there won't be much left of the Chandaleur islands. The map you used might not even have land now where you measured from or the numbers might be slightly off.

I have always loved maps, so I was drinking some coffee on the hotel balcony at the coast Sunday morning, watching the sunrise, perusing the O-T, and checking out some coastal maps

Odd thing to fap to, but to each his own, I guess.

You know what the sad part is, if you remove the toothless inbred fans and the ghetto fans... Alabama and Mississippi state guys are usually good for a laugh and a few beers

I worked a job in Mobile a few years ago and was there for about two weeks. I was surprised to find that the old downtown area of Mobile looked very much like the French Quarter. In fact, some historians claim Mardi Gras started in Mobile. The people were nice and the food (a lot of seafood) was good, just bland. If you ever visit, just pack some Tony's and you're set.

The fun part was watching the Auburn and Bama fans square off during the Iron Bowl. Best friends until kick off time. Once the game started, they cussed each other like they were mortal enemies.

There was a great series a couple of years ago called "How the States Got Their Shapes." I geeked out on the entire series.

Just curious about how those islands are claimed by Louisiana.
Since the closest landmass they are near is, well, The Landmass, or Mississippi.
