What's the custody situation look like? If the dad is the POS the SO claims they are and he still has visitation privileges to the kid the influence and disregard they could have for the kid makes life difficult if you actually care about the longterm health and well being of that child. Even small behaviors like excessive spoiling or breaking habits like bedtimes during the school year.
Can the mom support herself and the kid, is the ex a deadbeat that doesn't pay child support...if not the partner that she is looking for will be expected to contribute immediately to help provide
Planning dates or quality time no longer centers just around work schedules but a good mom will have to account for their kids time too
There's plenty of additional scenarios. Single parents may not like the word "baggage" in reference to their kid(s) but in the dating market they are at minimum a very thoughtful consideration to any potential meaningful relationship and to many a potential dealbreaker especially if the potential partner is not stable on their own and most arent

"...what I deserve" is the mantra that has ruined millenial/gen-z women. I'm so sick of fricking hearing this when they bring nothing to the table but a shitty job and drama from ex's. Dating in your early 40's is a sesspool of this shite. It's like the standard white women attitude now, along with multiple stupid tattoos on the arms/legs, nose piercing, and likely dyed hair - oh also a belief that where the planets in the solar system are directly affects their level of bitchiness for the day.
