I sell cars so I see it as a customer that shows up on the lot wanting the 70k Tahoe but has a 470 credit score, a repo, no stable income and has zero down. You know what you did to not have that 800 score or that well paying job but you just blame the dealership for being too expensive.
Yup.
And I think a lot of men come to the realization after they have achieved something that they may have settled looking back at their lives and wives.
No one wants to talk about that side of it though haha

Lol, "deserve"
I agree. No one “deserves” anything better than what they are willing to demand.

Yes a man's value increases as they age while a women's bloom falls off the rose bush.

She lies and says she's in love with him
Can't find a better man
She dreams in color, she dreams in red

The internet, online dating sites, and social media in general has really done a number on both genders’ expectations and connection to reality when it comes to dating (among other things). My wife has several single friends in their 30s and childless. They’re responsible and make good money, but all seem to expect Matthew McConaughey to arrive on whatever dating site they’re on. Every date has something to pick apart and “he was nice but not the one.”
I’m beginning to think the issue is just that dating apps are inefficient. I recently read that 50% of relationships start via dating apps, but think about how many dates it probably takes to actually find a relationship. I can’t imagine an app ever connecting me with my husband. We were into completely different things, but he was funny and there was chemistry. I don’t know how an algorithm can figure that sort of stuff out. People need to get out more and meet in person. It doesn’t take long to figure out if there is some form of basic connection.

Women are the gatekeepers of sex, men are the gatekeepers of relationships".....
There is some truth to this. When I was in college over 20 years ago, women knew that if you liked a guy and wanted a relationship with him, you had to make him wait a while before becoming intimate. Of course he will have sex with you if you allow it, but will he stick around? So to find out if he was serious, we would make him put in some effort and wait a while. That strategy was so common that guys knew we did it. They thought we did it because we didn’t want to be viewed as a whore, but the real reason we did it was to weed out the ones who just wanted sex. From what I gather, younger women don’t seem to know about this strategy, and it’s a shame because it worked.

she then says yes but has doubts because she thinks she can do better
That's my problem with her. She said yes to hold a spot and kick the can down the road while she continues shopping for what she "deserves". If she can't find better, she'll keep the appointment, but if she can, frick that guy.
She should have had the decency to be honest and say no or not yet.
