The head too. Even with the mouth taped, a gator can swing its head with enough force to break some things permanently.

So let's say we successfully moved it. Now, something this big will start to fight for territory. Which means it will kill other gators. They kill each other all the time. So, now we've put a large one in an area where it could potentially kill what, 2-10 others? So now what did we accomplish? Does it killing it's own make us feel better? We just, indirectly, killed those. It is easier on everyone, other animals included, to just kill this one.
Besides, this was a quick death compared to anything in the wild.

They obviously never had blackened alligator nor want to face the reality that a 10ft alligator death roll in the water will seriously frick anyone up.

I used to spend my weekends in Grand Chenier catching alligators and general outdoor tomfoolery.
It wasn't until about a year ago I became way more cautious around them. I was walking my dog next to the wall of Cypress Lake (ULL campus) and a gator did a 180 spin and nearly lunged over the wall, just missing my dog's tail as I yanked him away. It really opened my eyes to their speed.

Gator could have been moved. If we the people can't harvest the gator then .gov shouldn't be able to euthanize it.
