I flew out of Norfolk Virginia a few weeks back and after doing the hands over the head xray thing i got flagged for something in my groin area. they then told me they needed to do a physical examination. That was a better hand job then a lot of women have provided in the past

One time I complained to a nearby TSA douche when I saw a ten year old girl getting patted down. No relation and her father was standing right there but it was clearly bullshite.
“She could have a weapon and hand it off once on the plane” he said in broken English.
We are a broken society for allowing this type of bullshite to happen.
Both sides of the aisle decided a long time ago that they were more than happy to sacrifice essential liberty for temporary safety. Well, at least for us to sacrifice essential liberty.

See I would sacrifice a bit of my liberty to make the world safer for American children.
But, I am not ok with sacrificing an American child’s liberty for my safety.
It’s a sad world that doesn’t allow for nuance or common sense.
To be clear, I largely agree with your statement.

But that kind of thinking gets us where we are. Because it’s not just your liberty or safety. If the child you saw at the airport was being used as a mule for something dangerous, I imagine there were dozens of children on that flight that could have died.
At which point you make safety, anyone’s safety, paramount, you’ve removed the foundation that liberty requires, and it’s only a matter of time before it crumbles.

There is an extreme multiplier on this if you are flying into Nola or Atl.

Heard a story the other day of TSA in MSY completely missing a loaded pistol in someone’s carry on.

I was pulled out of line at SeaTac and brought into an office and told to empty all my pockets, and they ran a hand scanner all over me. They got my carry on bag and dumped everything out and examined the inside of the bag and looked at each individual item.
I asked the TSA agent why I was singled out and he said they pull random people out of line and check them throughly.

I have seen people get to the gate with the wrong ticket. Now, how is that supposed to happen if we’re checking tickets at Security ?
Have flown a handful of times this year and TSA no longer checks my tickets. They run my ID through their scanner, stare at a screen for a minute, then wave me through. No idea what they are checking, or if they are even checking to see if I have a scheduled flight that day

The inconsistency paired with aggressive instruction is always fun.
Has that “what are you, an idiot?” Vibe going at the checkpoint when you do what the last agent instructed
Flying from Vegas a few months ago. Lines were getting clogged because people were taking so long to get their items off the belt after going through the detectors. TSA guy tells people they can remove the bins and bring them to the bench area to move things along. I have to collect my 3 bins and get yelled at by a different TSA person because there is a sign that says no stacking bins. So, I start consolidating the items to 2 bins, and the guy starts chirping about gathering my bins and bringing them to the bench.
I was not sure if they were just completely incompetent, or if they were doing the Super Troopers bit by giving intentionally conflicting statements to have some humor in their day

Went through London/Heathrow earlier this year.
Nothing but Pakis, Arabs, and Sikh agents working.

there is inconsistency in belts/shoes but staffing is worse.
Day before Thanksgiving I was flying out of ATL. TSA lines weren't bad at all just after noon but I could tell it was getting busier. There were 18 check in desks but only 2 were manned to check ID's. I can only hope more were opened after I went through.

My 4 year old was swabbed for bomb residue when we flew from Australia back to the U.S.
So its not just a TSA thing.

The worst TSA in my experience is Pensacola.
I've realized it's better staffed with people who would otherwise be working at McDonalds and don't really care. Pensacola is mainly retired Navy people 100% sure they'll catch a terrorist today if they just look hard enough.

We were flying with a pretty well-known doctor friend of ours. He got hand swabbed and some fancy lotion he uses caused it to trigger as bomb residue. He was detained for like 2 hours and they did a full body search on him (pants removed, boxers stayed on), pulled his bags off the plane and emptied them, etc. It was insanity. Chief of Medicine at a hospital, Ivy grad, white guy traveling with his family. Use google and some common sense.
He obviously missed his flight, his family kept going with us, and he got there the next day. 3 night trip and he spent the first night in an airport hotel alone.
