Anyone find it odd that New York is among this list?

The arrogance of "everyone should have a passport" crowd is through the roof.

I have a passport, I enjoy traveling abroad. My grandad hasn't left the country since WWII, he shouldn't have to have one to visit his family if he wants to hop on a flight.

Isn't this about security issues? I mean, this sucks for people, but it might be something that just has to be done.

Why can't these 4 states just meet the fricking requirements on their IDs? That would make a passport unnecessary.

Who is saying he does? This thread is about domestic commercial flights, not road travel, correct?

Bc they are state issued IDs. If you want something that meets the fed's requirements, then get a federally issued ID, a passport. It's simply two different sets of standards.

Well 46 states decided it was easiest for their citizens to have state IDs that met the standards so they wouldn't HAVE to get a federal ID.

You're right, that is a state ID and their choice. They just made a choice that sucks for a lot of people.

Its no sweat off my dick, I have a passport.

Georgia has the complaint licenses. There is no online or mail in way to renew your license. You have to go to the DMV in person. Because everyone has to renew in person the lines are hours long. I got in line on a Tuesday at 8:30 and was not finished until 3:00. You also need your original birth certificate and social security card and several other documents.

So every five years you have to take a day off work to get this done.

Okay, but what I don't understand is why there are 4 states that don't comply with the federal standards when the other 46 states do. It kind of doesn't make much sense to me. If anything, I should be mad at Louisiana, right?

What a stupid bunch of crap if that's the way it will be here.

More state workers, more benefits, more taxes.

Great.

If it's racist to require people to get a DL to vote it's super racist to require people to get a passport.

I'm anti racism on this one.

Not if compliant licenses necessitate an in-person trip to the DMV.

That sounds like a fed requirement.

No one is forcing you to fly. Do you also feel people shouldn't be forced to get a license in order to drive a car?
