They should do this for all states in the top 5 of the obesity rankings.

I think I had end an article that stated Louisiana and a couple other states did not want to use the Real ID card based on the fact that there was too much personal information on it so instead a passport would be sufficient in place of it. I believe military I'd and TWIC cards can also be used instead of passport. But like someone else said, we have been getting extensions for like 10 years on this so I also think we get another extension.

It would be against the Louisiana way to just get things done right the first time.

That's what I was thinking. Why in the world aren't our ID's up to the standards that the other 46 states have complied with?

The arrogance of "everyone should have a passport" crowd is through the roof.

I have a passport, I enjoy traveling abroad. My grandad hasn't left the country since WWII, he shouldn't have to have one to visit his family if he wants to hop on a flight.

Cue the "it's so much easier to use my passport than my DL when I travel domestic" dipshits.

More of Piyush's fault for not meeting the new standards, only four states failed to do so.

Some fear that the chips would allow tracking, and use that as their reasons for being against.

Twic is an acceptible form of secondary ID, so you do not need a passport with a Twicc card.

That's just sad. You don't want to travel? I bet your wife loves that!

My Dad is 60 and hates flying. Always has. He doesn't plan on leaving the country anytime soon but they go on long road trips frequently. They are currently in Maine for a month.

My Dad shouldn't need a passport to go on a road trip in the US.

Although I'm pretty sure this won't happen.
