I'm really confused ...my nephew got his DL last week. Had to go back THREE times b/c:
1. had notorized copy of birth certificate, had to get an ORIGINAL
2. came back with ORIGINAL, found some other document he needed (not sure what)
3. Finally got the damned thing. Three tries.
My questions is this: the article states that LA residents cannot use their state issued DLs because they are not made to prove residency or citizenship. Why were they so adamant about him having an ORIGINAL birth certificate, then?

2. came back with ORIGINAL, found some other document he needed (not sure what)
3. Finally got the damned thing. Three tries.

Yea, I've said in other threads that ID is not required for your flight, only for ticketing.
TSA is an absolute joke so I don't have a problem with LA turning their noses up at this request.

It's pretty easy to get a license on the first go around. Follow their simple requirements (to the word) and save extra trips to the DMV.

just playing the devil's advocate here but you can easily hide things in a laptop (they have a lot more places, they have lids that close, etc) than you can with a touch screen, single-body tablet.
