Prayers needed. River about to be in our yard in greenwell springs area. I have boat ready with trolling motor. Never even been close to this high before. Once it gets here I hope it spreads out rather than rise up.

Roll your eyes or not, it's unsafe and selfish for a useless news broadcaster to do a ride along when there's a state of emergency.

Vermilion River in Laffy is close to its second highest level in history. It may have begun leveling off but is forecasted to continue rising.

(2) 16.80 ft on 03/13/1947
(3) 16.37 ft on 04/08/1942
(4) 15.81 ft on 01/20/1993
(5) 15.56 ft on 05/17/1980

How to tell of the amite cresting will effect me. I'm right off i12 in Walker near. We have a neighborhood pond that's already 5-6 feet from my house. Usually 20-25ft and water isn't really falling. There is a creek that flows behind the pond. Not sure where it goes or what it's connected to. Will the amite effect us?

There are hundreds of people needing to be rescued. for every reporter and camera man, that's two more people at a time that can be rescued. Do you think getting video is more important?

Give me a minute to plug those GPS coordinates you gave into my machine and figure out where this mysterious creek runs. Brb

That creek flows into the Colyel Creek which then flows into the Amite. The Amite rising another 5ft will certainly affect yall

I think that 24 feet was during the 1940 hurricane that dumped 21 inches of rain.

Yeah, I'd like to know if things are about to get worse or better... water is coming in through my back door now. Luckily, the rest of the house is elevated six inches above that so it's confined to the back entrance and storage room at the moment.
