I had plans to drive to br from Alexandria today to see my sister in hospital at OLOL. Does anyone know if I would run into issues? I know it's suppose to rain all day, but is it still heavy rain? Tia
Not sure of the rain intensity, but Essen between 10 and 12 was a lake yesterday morning with just about 12 hours of rain-with several stalled cars.

Reporting in from off bend road. I'm preparing myself to lose everything except my truck that I had someone pull through a flooded field.
This is an indiscribable feeling. A terrible feeling.

quote:Wow. shite. Stay safe out there guys. Red Cross is running a shelter and flood supply staging area out of my wife's church--right across from the Live Oak Ballpark. I'll probably go volunteer over there in a little while. Y'all come by if you need a hand.
a levy broke at Thunderbird Beach and the houses in my neighborhood are flooded to chest high.

Looking at things in a bit more detail. The Euro shows another 15"+ of rain for the BR area and over 20" for areas to the SW. The GFS was similar placement but lesser totals at 00z but had a big shift west at 06z.
The current analysis shows a surface low over CENLA, the 850 mb and 500 mb vorts are slanted back towards the SE as the system is under pretty stiff shear. The GFS and Euro both seem to match this pretty well for this time period. There seems to be pretty good agreement b/w the models on the movement of the features today. The big difference is rainfall totals. It looks like there is a difference in shear orientation b/w the models and that might be what is driving the difference in rainfall placement.
Either way, there is significant moisture transport into the system straight out of the Gulf with plenty of moist unstable air for the system to tap.

Good lord. Even if it only ends up being half that, this is unreal.
