Bought knowing Claycut Bayou runs behind the property. I knew this was a possibility, but you can't make decisions based on an outlier like this. The sad thing is we moved in three weeks ago. C'est la vie.

Thanks for the well wishes though. I knew we were in deep shite Friday morning at least. The rest of my neighborhood realized the gravity of the situation as the water poured into my road.

Living there for 20 plus years, I never thought it would flood that bad. I told my mom on Friday we would probably get a few inches in. I was wrong

Keep us up to date at Santa Maria, I am very curious of that area.

I just ran the numbers in my head on Friday based on the rain I saw falling north of us and knew it was going to be bad. I got that right.

The timing, however; was about 24 hours off. The difference between getting a lot of shite in the attic and losing practically everything.

Does anyone know if I-55 is open from Hammond to I-20?
-----------------------------------------------------------

It was open from Hammond to Jackson yesterday afternoon, but you might want to check 511la.org to see if the situation has changed.

The pics are on my fb, if you want to see them. I have a bad feeling your house took higher water levels than my moms.

The hope now is that the Amite will fall before the Spanish lake swamp reaches capacity.

There are far too few large storage areas and we keep filling the small areas that combined provide significant storage capacify (e.g., old model plane field on Burbank). In King County, WA development in floodplains is highly constrained to maintain flood storage capacity.

Amite at French Settlment is holding steady around 9.1 as of 9pm. Crest was changed to 9.3 at 1 am.

Graph did not update, but level is up to 10.24 here - an increase of 3 inches an hour over the past 2 hours.

The reading @ 6:30 was 9.29 feet and @ 8:30 it was 10.24 feet. That is nearly 6 inches per hour.
