According to the flood maps, Woman's Hospital is in danger. Why are women being brought there from other hospitals?
The hospital itself has probably been built up significantly....but you are right. It is in a flood zone.

I wonder why the news is not warning any of the areas that are concerning you or reporting any of this info. Thanks so much for keeping us informed.

Thanks fr33. They're my sons and have been checking on me and they think they are high and dry. I'm trying not to panic because my house is planned to stage a bunch of people flooded in Livingston until they can get back there and start assessing.

That's all I know. A buddy posted on fb his parents were waiting on evac. We are just south of i12 by south walker elem and starting to get a little worried after thinking we were in the clear

Actually, I believe those of us on the outer edges of Shenandoah are in trouble. Specifically, the White Oak edge and the Tiger bend side. The ones in "the middle" should fare much better. It's definitely going to be a nail biter that's for sure. I am way too close to Oneal and White Oak for me to be confident.

Could this back flow potentially impact the Spring Lake area near Bluebonnet or even the LSU area
I also live in BBH, and the lake in my backyard hasn't risen at all, and no standing water on the streets in front of my house. Hopefully, we'd be fine in the case of back flow.

What is your estimate of Highland/bluebonnet/ burbank area flooding??
I have no estimates, and honestly, it would be improper to give them - we need to just watch this threat unfold and watch the proper gauges.

I'm North of Walker High in lakes at Fennwood. Water drained out today. Very little rain. Could you be seeing colyell Creek flooding?

Thanks. I have 2 story house, so I guess that helps. But I'm getting more worried as a I read and watch.

traffic on Kaliste Saloom
This is nuts rainfall, and I'm afraid for folks in neighborhoods that even late today were coping within inches. I don't know what things will be by morning.

Are they updated throughout the night?
I've noticed that the Manchac/Amite hasn't been updated since 08:30 and the Manchac/Little Prairie since 9:15.

Two story house definitely helps, you should be plenty safe

My brother is out in central on boats rescuing people and apparently they are not allowing anymore boats to launch in that area. Just a heads up to any more Good Samaritans
God bless everyone out there with boats. I've never felt so helpless in my life and I'd still be standing in water with my kids if some guys didn't decide to get out there. There were a ton of boats but so many people needed help.

Lsusteve I do know that red oak on the other side of pendarvis is taking water after it draining out earlier today. That's close to peak.
Posted on 8/13/16 at 10:44 pm to Sev09
For Bayou Manchac, Bayou Fountain, Ward's Creek watersheds, the magic number is 21.5, based off of the forecasted crest for Amite @ Manchac Point. If you're above that you're good (if no additional rain). If not, you still may be ok, but there's really no way to determine the peak elevations and timing given the complex dynamics of the backwater flow with all the variables.

I live off Monitor in Shenandoah and one of the gutters I checked out was backed up, submerged...water not gushing out but still kind of nerve racking, especially after all this back flow talk

I don't see how that made you worried?

Anyone have any updates on area near Oneal and Old Hammond? Water still rising?
My parents were evacuated from Torrey Pines(a mobile home community off Old Hammond) earlier today. They live in a mobile home and my dad said while the water wasn't in the trailer...it was rising.
Everyone is safe at a family member's home....but my dad is an emotional wreck right now worrying if the water rises high enough to flood their home.
