Probably not the answer you wanted, but my guess would the closer you are to that gauge (Amite at Manchac Point), the closer your peak will be to 21.5 (unless of course the crest forecast changes).
Honestly I think I will be close at 21.5. According to my projections and what I am seeing for every 4' the water comes up in my backyard, is 1' on the Manchac/Amite gauge. If it comes up another 5', that would put 20' in my backyard. This would be right about knocking on my doorstep. If the projected increases, I will probably take on water. Fingers crossed...

Not the legendary SuNov, but I think Shenandoah should be fine. If you look at the 100 year maps, it is bone dry. It you love on the outskirts or in a low lying area, then obviously you are more prone to flooding than the rest.
And it is possible that you'll flood... Don't misunderstand me here. But the whole town will be underwater at that point.

I'm not far from you. Glad your ok. No flooding here I'm near River Ranch. Most of my friends in Youngsville are flooded. Curfew was at u but they still had traffic on Kaliste Saloom

Do you believe that Shenandoah subdivision, specifically Shenandoah Avenue and surrounding area by elementary school, are in real danger of flooding?
It's hard to be sure. Refer back to the maps I made and look where the red X is, that is where the crest is. When that moves to this point, that is where you will see the biggest problems:
Red arrow. Look at it. That is the point that when the crest reaches it, the water will be highest on the Amite upstream of you (and therefore will have the highest chance of significant backwards flow).
Nobody knows but I would at the very least plan for as bad flooding as you got during flash flooding with the potential for significantly worse flooding.

According to the flood maps, Woman's Hospital is in danger. Why are women being brought there from other hospitals?

Bayou fountain has been going up the past few hrs at almost a 0.5inch clip. With no to little rain mind you. This worries me. If there was heavy rain I'd understand but with little to no rain I'm concerned.
Which gauge?

The most concerning thing is that it is not showing a "cresting curve" yet.
That was my concern. It's skyrocketing. I'm monitoring for family in Santa Maria. Like I said, the trouble is there's (to my knowledge) no study or model for this condition. I'd like to take the easy route and say it will all level out at 21.5 (forecasted crest), but I know it's more dynamic than that. Tons of variables when considering backwater flow.

You just gave me a small wake up. I'm in the Jefferson/bluebonnet area and figured I got lucky. If airline and bluebonnet floods I guess I need to be more vigilant. Especially since I'm downhill from there.

Thanks for responding Fatty. I've got family in Denham being rescued and have been consumed with trying to get them help. I haven't even thought about Shenandoah flooding. I've also got family at S. Harrell's Ferry and Sherwood. They believe they're fine, but now I'm really starting to worry.

Corndog I'm hearing multiple places along pendarvis. 3 lakes and red oaks.

They should be fine here. The water in my back yard even went down.

Still can't get over the Vermilion River @ Surrey. Been flowing backwards, yet rising, since yesterday.

I'm not far from you, and I'm sort of in the same boat (no pun intended).
I'm high and dry on the 100 year map. But this whole thing is unprecedented so who knows.
Do your best to prepare. Get all your important documents in one place. Get all your meds together. Put an axe or something in the attic.
Here is the 100 year map in case you haven't seen it. LINK
All we can do is watch and wait. And pray. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
