What do you know about the two upstream gauges on Bayou Manchac - Bluff Swamp and Alligator Bayou. Are they reliable? They show 7.89' and 8.84' respectively - which I take to mean they're not responding to the backwater. I have a hard time believing the water has not made it back that way when the Little Prairie gauge is has been rising the way it has all day (up to 17' now).

Yeah Jones Creek is high as frick. That little neighborhood on the north side of the creek and west side of Jones Creek Rd is threatened and I know they never thought they'd see the day.
present. in laws just went to check on the house. water is definitely threatening neighbors who live across from the creek. little nervous about all of this back flow talk on jones creek. I'm elevated and further back in the neighborhood, but damn I wish I was home.

From the looks of the links super is providing it seems like backflow in the Wards Creek and Bayou Fountain runoff areas wont be until tomorrow evening. FML. Please don't rain again.

It will back flow into Jones Creek, Ward Creek, and Bayou Fountain and into the city drainage system. Hopefully with Spanish Lake and the wider Amite channel south of town will mitigate some of that.
If you live in south Baton Rouge and Ascension...keep your eyes on your neighborhood ditches and retention ponds tonight and tomorrow. If they start filling quickly without rain, it is already starting.

Anyone know how Metairie and Kenner are doing? Thanks for any info.
Grass needs to be cut.
Wife won't put out.
Ate dinner too early, hungry now.
Other than that, peachy keen in Metry.

Much kudos!
Do you think the Manchac/Amite projection will hold at 21.5 crest when the new value is released in the am? Or will it be above that?
I live near the area and curious if backflow occurs in this area if it would be better or worse for the immediate area?

Is Spanish lake all silted in. It needs to be dredged and drained and made into a reservoir. We could then pump that water into the river.

Just for an update on Highland club estates on jefferson. Water is coming out of the storm drains so quickly. Streets flooded. About 6 inches of water in the street now.

The Shenandoah neighborhood is not threatened. But it's very bad right outside on Oneal and Tiger Bend.
Boat, I'm in the middle of Shenandoah. I've always been told we are so high, the entire city would have to be under water before we flood. I'm preparing my home to take in family. I was confident I didn't have to worry about flooding. Reading this, I'm getting a little nervous.
I need reassurance that we'll be ok. Or need to know if I need to prepare to leave.

My immediate areas of concern, in order of importance and threat to life, In BATON ROUGE:
1) Homes along the Comite in Merydale and Monticello. (Currently flooding extensively)
2) Homes along Jones Creek going all the way from Shenandoah to Goodwood (should start flooding extensively soon as the crest moves into the area)
3) Homes along Clay Cut, starting at Tiger Bend. This group probably saw waters recede and think things are safe, so they could be taken by surprise.
4) Homes along Clay Cut and Airline/Sherwood up to Airline/Bluebonnet. Flooding may not have been extensive during flash flooding today but back channel flooding could be bad.
5) Homes along Bayou Fountain and Ward Creek in Eastern Baton Rouge. It should be a while til they fully crest but they may get it worse than anyone above because all of the above areas drain into the point. This would be the entire Burbank/Highland region as well as the mall and locations along Perkins.
6) LSU Campus, Northgate area. Already a bit flooded, if the backwater flooding is intense enough, it could overwhelm the area.
