* 1 million seconds ˜ 11.5 days
* 1 billion seconds ˜ 31.7 years

If someone had:

* $1 million and spent $1,000 every day…
they’d run out in about 2.7 years.

If someone had:

* $1 billion and spent $1,000 every day…
they could keep spending for about 2,740 years.
quote:

* A million dollars stacked in $100 bills is about 4 feet tall. * A billion dollars stacked in $100 bills is about 4,300 feet tall — roughly the height of a mountain or taller than many skyscrapers.
If you earned:

* $50,000 a year

It would take:

* 20 years to make $1 million
* 20,000 years to make $1 billion

In terms of quality of life the millionaires have way more in common with billionaires than people who earn a mere 6 figure living.

Another difference : In a few months it will cost $1 million usd to fill up your Tercel, but it will cost $1 billion to fill up your F250 .

- whooda thunk it?

Hard disagree .

Just about everyone in America is now a millionaire on paper (if they liquidated home, 401k, vehicles et al) - whereas still relatively very few people are billionaires ., having even one billion usd is true ‘frick you’ money .

To counter wound-be fatalism of Millenials that will tangent from this post….

ie, $1 million is ‘nothing’ thanks to Boomers…(the fatalistic mindset, cortisol-saturated types among us) and commences to convince themselves to YOLO and self fulfill their cases in point).

How many in all generations achieve wealth:

1. Save aggressively early
2. Invest mostly in low-cost stock index funds
3. Increase savings every raise/promotion
4. Avoid lifestyle inflation
5. Stay invested for full career

For many who do above:
$1 million is achievable
$2 million becomes possible

Getting from $1 million to $2 million is significantly easier…so aim for / prioritize the $1 million!

Like a runner, every step / mile counts. Can be done.

Then we can all be Boomers (I am not one, btw).

That's a pretty bold statement.

Imagine having a pile of cash with 100 million dollars in it, now imagine having 10 piles, that’s one billion dollars.
