Don't let your kids drink alcohol. That way you get a call the first Thursday of college how they got shitfaced at Reggies and needed up in the ER or Jail.
All mine drank at home and at family parties and never had a problem

I see many people in this thread missed that OP's link is very much in the past tense.
So if you're 37 years old, this hasn't been a thing in France for your entire life.

As recent as it may seem, it was only in September 1981, shortly after the election of François Mitterrand, that alcoholic drinks were banned from high schools once and for all

I know some German companies allot a beer or two during work hours for employees.
I can verify that they do indeed work as such.

Isn't alcohol now directly linked to cancer?
Small wonder that ingesting a substance which makes you drunk could be bad for your body.
Evolutionary wise, we've only been drink alcohol for a short amount of time.

This article suggests it may have actually been a crucial component to our evolution into becoming humans.

Why not teach them responsibility growing up instead of teetotaling and then being aghast when they treat it like a taboo once they are out of our supervision?
Who knew that treating 18 year old adults like children would encourage childish behavior?

One think the French don't tolerate is drinking and driving.

That's why they let foreigners take over their country..., their kids are a bunch of wine drinking punks.

They should enjoy it before Sharia law takes affect

Me, my girlfriend and our other mutual lady friend went to France and Belgium one summer for a week or so in the summer between junior and senior year of high school. We bought a sixer of Smirnoff ice on the train from Paris to Brussels.
It was a good trip.

The French are a bunch of pussies. I give my kid Jack Daniels before school.

The water was often undrinkable in rural France. If people drank it, they mixed it with wine.

When I was in Italy this summer, not only did my 14 year old drink, they served her without even asking me. They poured her a glass of red wine.

I raised my children with a very European attitude about alcohol. The problem is the never drank Taaka or Natty Light in college so they spent WAY too much money on craft beers, fancy wines and expensive scotches. The positive part is I was never called to the ER for alcohol poisoning or from jail for bail money.
