Have you ever thought that maybe....getting the flu shot weakened your natural immunities to the flu?

No, again, but the one time that I got the flu, I had not gotten (as in ever) the flu vaccine.

No, but what does that have to do with anything?

why get the shot if you don't need it?

Research has Proven, that those who get the flu vaccine, even if they get the flu, symptoms will be much less.

And some people have better genetics and immune systems. I haven't had a flu shot in probably 20 years. I got the flu once over that time period a couple of years ago and I've had colds that we're less bearable than the symptoms I had.

There are people like me, there are people who also get the shot every year and never get sick either. However, there are also people that always get the shot and get sick regularly, and people who never get the shot and get sick regularly.

I think those that it has worked for should continue to get it and those that have been fine without it should continue to do what works for them.

Yeah, this is possible, but I kind of doubt it.

I'm trying to find a nice table from the studies I have seen but can't find one.

If you just google influenza infection rates by year, you can find the data. Vaccination rates increased exponentially up to about 2015 when they leveled off over the last several years.

Some will point at death rates as indicating effectiveness of the vaccines when in reality, just like all other diseases, hospitals are more prepared to treat people with severe cases resulting in fewer deaths as time goes on.

What's doubtable about it?

Just like someone who has the flu shot might have lesser symptoms, do you not think that someone with a stronger immune system would also have lesser symptoms?

Kind of makes sense if you actually think about it

Funny that you say that, then use anecdotal evidence of as a reason why you believe what you believe.

i am 38. I've had the flu one time in my life. I've had the flu shot one time in my life. call me dumb all you want but they both occurred in the same year. i refuse to left the big pharma companies make a penny off of me for a flu shot.

my kids both got the shot on a Saturday morning last year and both had to stay home from school the following Monday. they can get it all thy want, i'm not getting it.

Flu shots are evidence of evolution. Many here likely don't believe in evolution, either. I'm certain of that on the other forum.

There is literally no harm in at least getting the vaccination

Tell that to my grandmother who got the flu shot then caught Guilluan Barre because of the flu shot and had to learn how to walk, speak, and write again.

Yall can keep saying anecdotal all you want, but the proof is in the pudding. Just read through this thread. At what point does it stop being anecdotal for you, and start becoming reality? The shots DO NOT prevent the flu. Your body DOES prevent the flu.

And by "see concrete evidence", I mean physically seeing it benefitting people. It just doesn't in my world, and in fact, the people whom I've known to get the shot have gotten sick much more than the people who haven't.

You wanna prove it to me? Stop the flu altogether. Since you can't, I'll call BS on the vaccinations like you call BS on my experience.

Eta: I'll continue not getting the shot, and not worrying about getting the flu. You can continue getting the shot and worrying about the flu

There is a new shingles vaccine available, too. Or will be available soon. It requires a follow up booster in 6 mos, but is much more effective than the previous shingles vaccine.

That's according to my pharmacists as he gave me a quad flu shot yesterday.
