I've been to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa where they played that last show. Very cool little venue, they've kept it looking just like it did in 1959.



I've been to the crash site too but it's incredibly difficult to find since it's just out in the middle of a bunch of corn fields. We had a local who knew where it was and still had trouble finding it.

Thank God Waylon Jennings didn't get on that plane. We wouldn't even know what we had lost

It is weird how that has worked out several times throughout history. Stevie Ray Vaughan swapped seats with Eric Clapton. Weird to think that the music world was going to lose one of them regardless the decision making on that night.
