Data caps are un heard of in other parts of the world.

Wait, you're telling me that an ISP is incentivizing customers to utilize its other services...and offering the customer something in exchange, which is streaming without data usage?

The internet should be wide open and free....you should be able to access any website you want regardless of who your ISP is.

Websites are bigger, steaming is a big thing now, downloads have gotten huge and ISPs was to use data caps. They are literally going against the rest of the internet and handcuffing it just for profit.

This is the biggest issue. I have no issue with companies being allowed to let some sites be "free" and some sites "for pay", but the government restricts entry into the market, making it extremely difficult/impossible for a net neutral ISP to provide an alternative.

One poster here keeps calling it capitalism, but it's really corporatism. I'm about as free-market as they come. But until we have a government that truly supports the free market (probably never), then we need net neutrality. Still, I find that NN is basically a bad idea that the government needs to enforce to make up for their own anti-free market regulations.

Well, duh, the consumer IS their product.

So google gives you all kinds of free shite so they can sell "you"(their product) for a profit = GOOD.

ATT wants to give you some free shite(content) so they can sell phone service(their product) for a profit = BAD.

I truly have no idea how the left persons brain works.

I don't understand how anyone can look at a scheme to make the internet like cable television (being able to access only site within your plan) and say there's nothing wrong with it.

This site would never exist if the internet was the way the big ISPs want it to be.



To all the trump supporters out there, this style of internet basically gives ISPs total control of what content you see. How would you like it if HuffPo was the only non-alphabet new source you could access?

shite, people complain about the "liberal media" now. Just think what it will be like when there are literally no other voices because every ISP has blocked their content.



I'm all about free markets and government staying out as much as possible, but this would be such a cataclysmic blow to the exchange of ideas if we allow ISPs complete and total control of what people see on the internet. Which is exactly where they WANT to go on this.

As with many things in our changing society, and as evidenced in this thread, the vast majority of people will brush this off, say it's "not that bad" or "better than the alternative" and then in 10 or 15 years everyone will look around and wonder "How the frick did this happen?"
