Ive flown with Delta 4 times this year, and United twice. No problems with Delta. I had a United flight delayed 18 hour, but they put me on First Class to make it up. Cant complain about either.

I much prefer American to United. United has also made their frequent flyer system absolutely terrible for this year.

Alaska is by far the best, but only really an option for transcon flights or if you live on the west coast.

I'd like to fly Delta more, but they are completely shut out of the DC/Northern Virginia market.

If you’re flying mainland domestic flights, United is pretty bad. But if you’re flying anything Hawaii or international, United is the best US airline IMO. They adjusted their mileage program this year to cater even more towards that segment.

Of course this is all relative to US carriers. Nothing in the US compares to Emirates, Qatar, Sing, ANA, Lufthansa, or Qantas.

And nothing in the US is as shitty as Air India.

holy hell i had no idea American was that bad

I did. They have really gotten bad in the last year or two. I live in Dallas and travel a lot for work, and while i mostly fly southwest, i do have to fly american a fair amount. I dread the entire american and DFW experience now. Its much further away, parking is much more expensive, the terminals are a pain in the arse, and most of the planes i am on for regional travel are straight up garbage. Tiny, dirty, and american really doesn't give a shite about you if you aren't flying back and forth to China three times a week. Terrible people to work with, every flight seems more expensive, and the tightest seat spacing in the industry.

All I know is that if we’re talking first class, I don’t care where JetBlue ranks, I’m choosing Mint over any other airline in America.

Those rankings check out: I've had several trips on Delta in the past couple years, all solid. And I had one American trip; it was the kind of soul-crushing shite show that makes you want to swear off airline travel.

I love air boutique here in Greenville, MS.

You literally just walk out to the runway toss your bags in without checking them and get on a plane that seats like 20-30 people. And it’s cheap AF. Only flys to big cities in the southeast though

American is the worst in just about every category especially if you’re in DFW.
3 terrible airline experiences in the last few years, all 3 were American flights and 2 involved DFW.

US carriers get bad, albeit deserving reputations for delays and poor experiences, but my worst/craziest flight experiences have all been international.

I was flying business from NYC to Mumbai on Air India. The lay flat only went down to 150 degrees, so I landed looking like a paraplegic, and I got sick on the food EN ROUTE to India rather than after landing. Was in the fetal position in my hotel room for 6 hours.

On a flight from Zagreb to Belgrade on Air Serbia, right when we landed I saw a maintenance truck hailing arse down the runway. Didn’t know what it was for until I walked off the plane and saw it next to our plane working vigorously on one of the engines. I’d still roll the dice with these guys than do Air India again.

United good for international and elites.
Delta best for domestic.
Southwest best for customer service.
American THE WORST.

I've flown Allegiant serveral times, never had an issue. You have to know what you are getting with them, it's just a seat, but I've only had one flight that had any delay with them.

Of course it is! You can't get ranch flavored ice cream anywhere in Texas.

The last time I was suppose to fly American was a return flight from Cabo. I got a text at 8AM that my 5PM flight was already delayed and that I would be missing my connection in Dallas because of it. I called to see what the frick was going on and the girl told me the crew was so late for their first flight that it messed the whole day up. She also told me that my stay at a hotel in Dallas would not be covered by them. I hung up to look at some other flights and called back (with the help of another friend/poster) and got a completely different story from the second girl I talked to. She tried to blame it on weather that didn't exist. We eventually got them to switch us to Delta flights through Atlanta and made it home that day.

Maybe I’m just unlucky, but I’m regularly delayed when flying Delta out of Atlanta. It seems like there’s always 20 planes waiting to take off.

I'll admit earlier in this thread I said SWA is my first choice domestically... I like Delta and United as well, and my few experiences with Spirit were actually decent.

I choose SWA b/c I have to fly to D.C. every other month or so and they have a wonderful direct flight from MSY to DCA that after 45 or so flights, have never once been delayed or late beyond 10-15 minutes either coming or going.
