Even setting aside the fact that this is an abhorrent thing for a father to do in any culture, most of these “men” voted for this by refusing to stand against the Taliban while the rest of the world tried for decades to force them out.
Sometimes you only get what you’re willing to fight for. They didn’t want to fight for a proper country, and they don’t want to fight for their daughters. These “men” deserve the deepest kind of contempt and nothing else.

The truth is that selling children into slavery due to famine or poverty is an ancient practice that has been around since antiquity. It’s happened in nearly every civilization and almost all of us are descended from survivors of this practice. Doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a fricking barbaric practice and has no place in modern society though.

Oh, absolutely. I saw it firsthand in Isan, Thailand…..the poorest part of the country. One daughter - although older -can support a family for decades.
Up there, you can make $75 a month at the factory or make $75 a night in the big city sleeping with some old farang.
It’s sad but these are the decisions truly poor people have to consider.

Which, historically speaking, is most cultures and most of mankind, save those "infested" by Christianity. The 4 gospels are full of examples of Jesus elevating children (and women) in a way no other culture has. But the left wing doesn't want to hear that.
