Oh, and I haven’t had a car note the last 20 years.
Yall keep driving to work in new vehicles that you go to work to pay for.
You’re on a hamster wheel and don’t even realize it.

2010 F150. Every morning, when I pass people in their newer vehicles and their dash is lit up like an LG TV, it makes me appreciative of not having a digital display. Does suck not having Bluetooth though.

My ride is 12 years old. I expect 8 to 10 more years. (Yes it is an older Lexus sedan).

Wife (no pics) has a 19 year old Hummer that only has 40k miles on it. I just bought a new Corolla last month. She obviously drives very little, we are also big believers in what gets us from Point A to Point B.

Thanks for posting the info. There might be an issue with the definition of passenger car. If it excludes SUVs, small trucks, and crossovers, then I can see the validity of average age estimates.

Good call. No reason to pay for a new one.
I don't ever want one that's connected to the Internet.

This doesn't help the "they don't make 'em like they used to" crowd... while they are technically correct, it's the opposite of their thinking. Cars are more reliable than ever.

My truck is 18.
Wife's Jeep is 10.
My next vehicle will be an EV. GM, Ford, and Stellantis will probably be in the middle of another bailout by then and I'm not giving them any more money. They need to be allowed to fail.

My daily is a 2011 with 345k miles.
My new truck is a 2025 and although really nice and I got 0 apr is still somewhat regretted. I would have rather gotten a low mileage gen 1 tundra with the 4.7 but felt the prices were absurd

A good reason is that cars/trucks just last a lot longer. I have a 2018 Subaru with 52k miles, I just traded in my 2015 Outback on a new Tesla. The full self driving at our age is a no brainer.
