The Mrs demands we stay in them after I found an empty enema bag stuffed behind the towels next to the toilet in a very high end hotel in ATL.
Cleaning fees are outrageous and I got a bad review for not being “responsive enough” to some fat lonely woman whose basement I stayed in.
I unloaded the stock in Q1. Lucky I got out.

Yep it's the the fees. Cheaper to stay at a hotel now

That's revenue per AVERAGE listing. What is the MEAN revenue?
Maybe they're are just way too many, as indicated in this thread already, nowadays.
People got to thinking,, hey I can list my basement in Airbnb and see what we can get.. when I reality they live in BFE.

Thats a shame. The fees are ridiculous, and there are certainly problems which can arise, but I like an airbnb for girls trips, etc., when we can split a house or condo four ways and have way more space than a hotel, i.e., more than one bath, a kitchen, etc.

Fees are killer and I hate not knowing what youre walking into. At least when I check into a Hilton property, I know pretty much what kind of place I am getting.
As I am on airbnb now, you can search with all fees added in minus taxes

All these "gig economy" things like AirBnB, Doordash, Grubhub, Uber, they aren't sustainable. They might work for a while but they won't last long term. The numbers just don't add up. My fiance (no pics) does Doordash a little bit while she's finishing school and it just doesn't make sense. She'll do a Dash from Dunkin Donuts and it'll pay her 11 dollars for 2 cups of coffee and 2 donuts. Then the next one will give her 3 dollars to take a 60 dollar Outback order 15 miles away. None of it adds up. Seems a bit like Tulip Mania.

I blame the movie “Barbarian.”
I would never stay at one, not my thing. But if you like some guy jerking off to you thru his hidden camera system, go for it…

Mines booked through the summer in BSL. Cleaning fees are cheap though. My wife does it half the time and the maid there doesn't charge much.

Air bnbs do have their benefits. For example, we did a joint vacation with my brother and his family, and my cousin and her family.
Maybe about 12 of us, and we all fit into an Airbnb in Clearwater FL.
We split the cost, and it was a great way we could all stay together. Have more space, a full kitchen, multiple bathrooms, multiple tvs, enjoy meals together without going out to eat, etc.
But if you are looking to save money, just stick with hotels 100%. I would never get an Airbnb if it's just my wife and I.

AirBnB stole some taxes from me. I booked a condo for a couple weeks. Got there and the neighborhood wasn’t what I wanted, on a busy street, etc. I worked a deal with him where I paid 25% and left a positive review while he refunded 75%.
They said taxes weren’t refundable. I stayed on them and eventually got a partial refund of the taxes they stole in the form of a credit for future stay.

Some dude on here did a thread a while back about how he made 6 figures doing door dash or Uber eats or whatever. He said he batched orders at certain times of day like breakfast and lunch. And also only accepted orders for popular restaurants close enough together and with delivery distance close by. That way he could get more orders done in an hour without having to waste time doing extra driving.

As usual, a fun startup that can bring value gets fracked up by investors and their greed for short term gain

You don’t have to clean even if they have a sign.

People just stay at the casinos or a hotel close to the casino because there is no pricing advantage when you break it all down.
When AirBnb was first getting big I really liked it because you got so much bang for your buck, but today it only ever seems worth it when you're going with a group and need to split into a bunch of bedrooms.
We don't do it at all anymore for just us two, unless it's somewhere that there aren't any hotels in the first place. The convenience and consistency of a branded hotel is more reliable.

Good, but the damage to the housing sector is done already.

5 years ago you could get an Airbnb for a steal in some place like Seattle or San Diego. It was a more quaint experience, also good if you could get one in a great location.
Owners have realized market value and the pendulum swung too far. This summer, hotels have been cheaper for me.

AirBnN has been around for quite a while and isn’t going anywhere. The market will adjust somewhat and some people who got over leveraged will have to sell, but many business cases it works just fine. Especially if people are just renting a part of their house or something already on their property.
Uber is a proven success. Too many people are doing it these days for anyone to make big money, but it’s not going anywhere. Too many practical uses.
The food delivery services are going to be iffy if the economy sinks.
Posted on 6/27/23 at 8:08 pm to stout
The market has been over-saturated by foreign-owned units, hippies, and trust fund babies who don’t want to work.
The fees are absolutely ridiculous too.

AirBNB has lost a lot of its perks and the pricing is OOC making it no more desirable than a typical hotel stay.
There is nothing worse than a typical hotel stay. I'm posting this from a 2000+ sq' 3 bedroom airbnb with a full kitchen, 3 bathrooms and washer/dryer that costed the same as a 350 sq' holiday inn express with two queen beds and probably a baby crying on the other side of the wall while her older sibling play hide and seek in the halls.
