Always had to find one to return pages from my beeper.

For sure.

I remember basically every kid had one when I was in elementary school.

I was born in 81... 50 cents for a coke, 50 cents for chips or a candy bar. Snacktime!

I'm dating myself but I remember nickel phone calls in Louisiana, the lowest in the nation.

I remember in 8th grade we took a field trip to D.C. and my parents gave me a prepaid calling card for pay phones to call them on. That was 2004 and they were still common. They started declining a couple years later with rise of cheap cell phones and better cell service.

Oddly there is still a working pay phone down a couple blocks from my house it’s on the outside wall of a building downtown that’s a weekend night club black folk go to

I had the teen line for my bedroom bc my daddy was self employed and he didn’t want the home phone to be busy.

I used to give him the red arse bc every month I had a huge bill from doing emergency breakthroughs when my boyfriends phone was busy a long time. Every month he’d say you better not let me find out next month you made anymore!

We ran buck wild in the 80’s. I am amazed at what we got away with. I never bought weed but it was always around. Booze was cheap and getting ID’ed was never an issue.
The music was awesome and we had all the pre-aids no worries nookie we could handle.
We lived like kings.

There were no limits and no consequences. We went to HS with a shotgun in the gun rack and an ice chest of cold beer so you could pop a cold one as soon as you hit the parking lot.

Lastly, concert tickets were cheap. I saw Van Halen in Baton Rouge in 1980 for $8.

Absolutely the best years of my life.

My phone died one day (like permanently)a few years ago. Needed to call someone. That day I realized pay phones no longer exist (or very rarely). Only option was to go to work to use the phone, buy a new one right away, or drive to a friends house and knock on the door.

You are one of those dumb psychotic females that parents warn their sons about. I had a high school GF that would do that emergency breakthrough shite when my mom was on the phone with her sister.

Seems more like a 70s pic. Everybody went preppy in the 80s.

The movie “Phone Booth” staring Colin Farrell came out in 2002. The whole movie is a dude using a pay phone in 2002.

LOL If you were really tight with someone you would give them a shout out during the day by beeping them with "14" or "01134" as call back number.

A primitive txt hack back in the day.
Check it out if you still have an LCD calculator.
Held upside down reads "hi or hello"

laff now but it was better technology than they had for the moonshot.
