That one thing I simply cannot get past in all of this Coronavirus Mess

How this country, can have been this woefully ill prepared for this simply floors me. It’s not that big government failing to live up to their responsibilities is shocking in and of itself mind you, but being this ill prepared is pretty mind boggling, even for me.
Think about this. You have the following Federal agencies we fund to look after us:
- US Dept of Health and Human Services and all the following agencies:
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Food and Drug Administration
Health Resources and Services Administration
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
Indian Health Service
National Institutes of Health
Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health
Office of the Secretary
Program Support Center
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response
Then you have FEMA, tasked with emergency response
An the Military itself
And all have lectured on, and supposedly prepared for just such a National and international crisis that all have said was inevitable, and yet our Military, our Agencies, and especially our first responders simply do not have enough masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer to meet the need this early in the process, and it’s not even gotten really out of hand yet.
We have supposedly had exercises to get ready for this, and yet nobody thought to procure enough masks, gloves, and basic gear to prepare for such an occurrence in all of this time? You kidding me here? How is that even possible?

Having so many different agencies is a big part of the problem. No centralized organization or decision making.

I completely agree.
If you just look it like an American citizen and not try to find one political party to blame, it's just a massive failure across the board.
It's quite obviously the biggest national/homeland security risk any of us who didn't live through WWII 80 years ago have experienced.
Yet, for the trillions we are supposedly spending on national/homeland security, this comedy of errors happens.

Are you suggesting that it's "fake news" that we were unprepared? It's not conjecture or "fake news". It's fact.
We have know for some time that a pandemic would come. Not only that, but the Intelligence community briefed the White House in January and February about the potential impact. It's inexcusable that we didn't have tests available. The "ignore it and it will go away" strategy is not exactly top of the line preparedness, or leadership.

Apparently not... please tell me why we spend so much money on so many agencies to take care of this country in a crisis they’ve supposedly prepared for and lectured about for decades, and yet nobody once ordered enough equipment to facilitate basic care in a pandemic.

The main thing they could have done differently was have a stockpile of masks and protective equipment. There is no preventing this, only slowing down the spread enough so that it doesn't overwhelm our healthcare system.
Despite all the agencies you listed, we haven't treated biological threats as a national security issue in the same way we treat the food supply as a vector of attack. Part of how we justify many of our farm subsidies is we don't want to be beholden to another country for food. We obviously need the same thing for masks and other resources designed to mitigate biological attacks, natural or man made.

This is what frustrates me the most as well.
The United States had MONTHS for prepare for this. I'm not very happy with Uncle Trump either. Hes on record at the beginning of this mess saying they've got it contained. this is not a big deal. They'll have it eradicated in two weeks, etc... He took that stand for weeks. Then suddenly changed his tune. It became " This is a pandemic. I've been calling it a pandemic since before everyone called it a pandemic"

I can slightly understand being unprepared for this. Our last pandemic (Swine Flu) was not half as deadly as this.
I can only hope that whenever the next pandemic is, we can be prepared and won't have to make the same mistakes again.

I think that the lady in charge of life jackets for the State should be put in charge of the whole mess.

You should probably bring that up with the CDC then. You know, the agency that didn't want to use the WHO tests and instead develop their own, that initial didn't even work correctly.

we were the most prepared of any country in the world and we handled it better then any country in the world and thats why we have the lowest deaths

Its like spending an arse load of money of a fleet of brand new fire trucks to combat fires in a community, but just not ordering enough hoses to put fires out with, and throwing your hands up. Never going to get that.
