Honestly if I won that much money, I probably would spend a stupid amount of money on dumb shite. I would put a lot of it away, donate to charity, invest in businesses, stocks, etc. But at least 50-75 million will be wasted for absolutely no other reason but just cuz I can
This guy gets it. You and me need to be friends. I can ride one hell of a jet ski

For the lulz.

I know he has 877 million now, so not a big deal to him, but he missed out on several more million in interest by not claiming his winnings sooner. Just mind blowing that several million left on the table now means nothing now to this guy.

NBC is saying he has to pay 24% fed and 7% state.
According to a tax calculator the winner will pay a total of nearly $407 million in taxes.

Would this be considered OT baller status?

I'd take my 425 million and start buying timber land, water resources, and then come the murders.
Step one, large saltwater tank.
Step two, hundred thousand gallons of peptides.
Step three, male dolphins.
Step four, invite my enemies to swim with said rapey dolphins.
Step five, profit.

Something about this is fishy as frick. I bet someone has the code/image and just printed the gd ticket. 1 ticket worth billions, I don't believe in honest people

Do you know something concrete about the identity of the winner? Whoever he/she may be?

He’s 24 and “worked” (past tense obviously) at the ZF Transmission plant in Fountain Inn.....next question....LOL

No one (except perhaps Warren Buffet) who lives middle or low income can sit on $500+ million after-taxes money and not eventually make a lifestyle change that people will notice. Make a lump sum pay off on your mortgage? Now the banker knows. No more house note = more money to spend, and people will notice. Remaining anonymous would be very difficult in a small town, rural county type of situation, where everyone knows your business.
You don't have to deal with local banks, I paid off my mortgage lump sum, it was held by Wells Fargo, doubt if a actual human being ever even saw my account, same with online banking, lots of people no longer deal with local banks. For significant wealth you deal with CPAs and Lawyers in large cities like Dallas, Houston, NYC. They have experience with very wealthy clients, and understand the importance of privacy.

the winner has elected to remain anonymous
Don't understand why everyone doesn't do this.

Not all states allow it. That’s why many set up an LLC or have a lawyer claim it.

I completely understand what you’re saying and actually agree with you 100% in principle. But I’m not going to be upset if I win $877,000,000.
However, in principle, I think it’s bullshite they remove the interest, and then tax you after that too
