The winner, who was not named in the South Carolina Education Lottery Commission release, said they even allowed a fellow customer to make a Mega Millions lottery ticket purchase in front of the winner while in line at the store. “A simple act of kindness led to an amazing outcome.,” the lottery said.

As allowed by South Carolina law, the winner has elected to remain anonymous and has chosen the cash option of a one-time payment of $877,784,124. This is the largest jackpot payout to a single winner in United States history.

I just can't fathom winning that. You are setting your family up for generations and generations.

I'd immediately retire and partner up with multiple charities and spend my time advocating on their behalf.

40% taxes put you at $526,670,474. If you get JUST 1.5% interest that's $7.9 million/year

This guy was smart. Probably had some money already to live on for a year. Probably left his job several months ago inconspicuously. And now people won’t be able to figure out it was him.

Family and friends will figure out. It'll trickle down after that.
